Pick 194 - Sel Murray

Norman Selwyn 'Sel' Murray was an elite goal kicker. 50 goals from 13 games for the Tigers thankyou very much. 461 goals from 121 appearances over his career. Not bad. He was a fine mark and an accurate left foot kick. In round 7 1945 he kicked 10 of our 13 goals, which is still 6th on the Richmond most goals in a game leader board (https://www.tigerlandarchive.org/tiki-index.php?page=Goalkicking).

Richard Parker's Team
B: Martin Bolger - Scott Turner - Nathan Broad
HB: Basil McCormack - Dave Cuzens - Liam Baker
C: Henry Colden Harrison - Trent Cotchin - Allan Geddes
HF: Brett Deledio - Michael Pickering - Sydney Stack
F: Billy Brown - Jeff Hogg - Maurie Hunter
Fol: Toby Nankervis - Wayne Campbell - Shane Edwards
IC: N.Crowe - Peter "Whoosa" Welsh - Bill Cosgrove - Sel Murray

David Palm.
Picked him because he was a favorite player of mine.
1640030247808.png

Capable of playing as a defender, centreman or on-baller David Palm was recruited by Norwood from Kensington Gardens in 1974 and made his way steadily up the ranks before making his senior debut midway through the 1976 season. He ended up playing 65 SANFL games and kicking 79 goals for the club with his biggest disappointment coming in 1978 when he failed to achieve selection for the Redlegs’ ultimately winning grand final clash with Sturt. Instead, he played for the reserves, who downed West Adelaide in their grand final.

The 1980 season saw Palm crossing the Nullarbor to join West Perth where he produced some excellent football over the course of a three season stint, attracting the notice of Richmond among others. He ended up joining the Tigers to whom he gave excellent service in 104 VFL games (kicking 38 goals) between 1983 and 1988. A rugged, straight ahead type of player who typically used the ball extremely well he was highly regarded at Punt Road and was a virtual ever present in the senior team.

In 1989 Palm was appointed as an assistant coach at Springvale in the VFA where he played 17 senior games and registered 15 goals. He was also selected to represent the victorious Association at the NFL division two carnival in Hobart.

David Palm finished his career with a two season stint back at West Perth, taking his final tally of games with the club to 91 and the number of goals kicked to 50. He won the Falcons’ fairest and best award in 1990 the same season that saw him represent the West Australian state league representative team. In his final season he served as club skipper.

Bert Edwards

1640055300119.png

He's one of these blokes.

Bert was a talented wingman and half-forward. He was a very clever player who read the game very well and was a fine team man. He was second in the 1944 Best and Fairest award and vice-captain in 1945. He was a member of the 1943 Premiership side and the 1940, 1942 and 1944 Grand Final sides - and was named in Richmond's best five players in all three of those defeats. He was vice captain in the 1944 Preliminary Final, and Grand Final, in the absence of Dick Harris.
He also represented Victoria once, in 1941. He later moved to Tasmania where he played with Clarence and Longford and also represented that state three times.

Total Games: 122
Total Goals: 23

I'll post my team later.

What software are people using to jazz up their teams? My computer skills aren’t great in that area so quick tips would be greatly appreciated:)
The finished teams all look awesome 🤩
Also it would be nice for everyone to do the same team stats in the same way so teams could be compared easily and it's just interesting. For example, all stats should only be for Richmond obviously and not career goals/premierships/games etc
So what stats do we want to know?
- total games
- total goals
- Premierships
- brownlowes
- norm smiths
-B&Fs
- info around captaincy (number, years, vise captains?)
- what else?

I did my graphic in photoshop... I kept tabs on Games, Goals, Flags, Norm Smiths, Brownlows, B&F wins, and Richmond HOF status
