Here is why I think I drafted the best team.

The Jodzilla Thrillers are a defensive nightmare. We have three Defensive Players of the Year in Michael Jordan, Dwight Howard and Alonzo Mourning. We have the all time leader in steals in John Stockton and a wiry lockdown wing defender in Grant Hill.

But we play both ends with big time scorers in Jordan, Hill, Dirk and Dominque Wilkins. We carry wow factor with two of the greatest dunkers of all time and we have a savvy PG who will get you the ball in all the right places.

We have inside warriors with defensive bigs in Howard and Mourning, plus a big time rebounder and scorer off the bench in Lucas. At times ill run Mourning and Dwight on the floor at the same time.

Dirk can play inside and out and we have great wing players in slasher and scorers with Nique and Hill. Cousy, the houdini of the hardwood is an able backup to the great John Stockon, the all time leader in assists and steals.

Also at times ill run Dirk at the 4 and Chris Mullin at the 3 with Jordan and Stockton in the backcourt. Dwight at the 5. Dwight Howard and Jordan need doubles and Mulliin is there to spread the floor as my 3 point dagger. Dirk too will help spread the floor. With that the lane becomes unclogged for Jordan to attack. It all works.

But most of all, what it really comes down to is Michael Jordan. If Michael Jordan can win a championship surrounded by blokes like Ron Harper, Luc Longley, BJ Armstrong and the like then its gravy when he has Nowitzki, Stockton, Nique and Howard in his starting 5.

Jordan tips the scales, as seriously... would you doubt him?

The Untouchable - PHX
C - Kareem Abdul Jabbar
PF - Kevin Garnett
SF - Julius "Dr J" Erving
SG - Dwayne Wade
PG - Chris Paul

Willis Reed
Paul Pierce
Robert Parish
Chauncey Billups
Brian Scalabrine

How is that not the most balanced team of the lot? That starting 5 will cause everyone fits with a perfect mix of defense, athleticism and offensive prowess.

Kareem and KG are my rock solids in the front court. They know what they can do at both ends and no one can stop them. Dr J is my X-factor. He'll be cutting and disrupting the offense allowing everyone better looks. And then the backcourt features one of the best PG coordinators in the history of the NBA to marshall the team and Dwyane Wade who often tears up a game in one big run and can make and create shots for himself from anywhere on the court.

Then with Pierce and Chauncey backing up that's a perfect combo to cover the 1-3 spots and then Willis and Parish following the 4 & 5 spots.

The 10th spot on the bench is Scal simply because a team will not function with a 10 man rotation. Just means too few minutes and everyone butting heads and chucking to get their turn. Scal fixes that. He'll be there for the team with his aura keeping the other egos in check.

Bottom line. I've made the balance so players can cross over and relieve the other in a solid 9 man rotation leaving no holes no matter what other team we come up against.

I voted for PHX's team, but I feel as though I should also post and let you know who got silver/bronze.

First up, a brief explanation of why I feel PHX's team is the best; balance. You've got excellent scoring options from every single member of your starting five, but you've also got some great defence and an excellent front court. Also, the White Mamba. Enough said.

Second place : peternorth's Kate Upton memorial team
The combination of Magic Johnson at PG and David Robison at C is just awesome. I think The Admiral is one of the most under-rated big men of all time, and I really think he brings peternorth's team together nicely. Peternorth also gets my vote for best bench, especially the first three. AI, Dikembe, and KD? Boss.

Third place : Messenger's untitled team
Bill Russell and LeBron James on the same team? That's huge. Add Nash, Pippen and McHale and that's a potent starting five. If Messenger had a stronger bench, he could have conceivably won this entire thing.

Vote for my team because it's the best, obviously.

And because *insert name here* is clearly better than *insert name here*.

judd > hodge; hird > buckley thread? ;)

i admit, your team is excellent and athletic. your guards are interesting as they are contemporary players. as we all know, the longer a player has been out of a game for, the better he becomes (a scientific fact). that may count against your guard combo. one thing for sure, wade and paul will draw a lot of fouls and take a lot of charges (flops). jesus you got pierce too!

I've always held your posts an opinion in high esteem chad, even though you're a celtic. Admiral is severely underrated in the history books, probably cause he was such a gentleman.

Messengers team would stifle anyone on D with the exception of Nash.

Actually laughed out loud at the last bit, which resulted in others at work looking at me curiously.

A tough pick but went with Messengers No Named Team.

The combination of superb defence and the ability to flat out score tilted it by the narrowest of margins over the UKU's and the Stone Cold Thrillas.

JP Sauce's team for mine. Amazing depth in the starting 5 plus the sixth man. Arguments could be made for all being top 25 players of all time.

I must admit I do like Messengers team. Who the hell scores against Pip, Lebron, McHale and Russell? Nash is the only weak link and I looked a the draft and CP3 was still available, had Messenger taken Paul instead of Nash, DEFENCE MONSTER TEAM! I love Ray Ray to spread the floor too. Nash is great just forgets that the game also happens when your team doesnt have the ball.

However. How the **** though did the man with these credentials not get a gig on a bench somewhere?

NBA Championship: 2003, 2005, 2007
Summer Olympic Games gold medal: 2004
Summer Olympic Games bronze medal: 2008
NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award: 2008
All-Tournament Team, FIBA World Cup: 2002, 2006
Italian League Championship: 1999, 2001
Euroleague: 2001

The man is a flatout winner over every competition in the world. Would take him over the reggie millers,Tim hardaways Chris Mullins every day of the week

I wouldnt take him over Reggie, Mullin or Hardaway but he is close. Those 3 guys led their teams respectively. Manu is a third option, coming off the bench. Had we stretched the bench to 7 he would have gotten picked though.
