according to the All Australian selectors wing isn't a specialist position.Makes sense of Freo since they have lost both their wingers in 1 season they need SOMEONE in the midfield.

Becoming increasingly evident that clubs don’t rate this draft
I really miss HT's wild trades during trade period.

If all it's costing is basically salary, that's essentially a swing at a free agent who isn't officially a free agent.
The token pick exchange is nothing for such a low risk high reward thing
Hawks need a forward so Sicily can stay in the backline, if Patton gets fit it's a total steal. 2nd or 3rd would've been fairer IMO.
If he’s not apart of the Hill Trade, would a future third do it? Keep in mind I have no knowledge on Acres, so I’m not sure how the Saints rate him.
Surely it's the biggest trade in AFL history in terms of pure pick count.
2 x 1st round picks and 2 x 2nd rounds picks for a player + 3rd pick.
I think St Kilda might ask for that, given he's contracted. 46 is more valuable to us as our first hand in the draft, so it probably is overs.
St Kilda might consider giving him away for cheap to clear some salary cap. They still have to get Zac Jones.
What you suggested would be more fair though.
I think Worpel is the exception, rather than the rule. TBH I think we're less likely to get someone better than Acres with that pick.
Kelly, Yeo, Shuey, gaff, sheed and redden all ahead of him in the midfield
Hutchings fighting with Cameron, Petruccelle and hopefully Venables for the last 2 forward spots.
But but but ... we need more mids!I don't blame them either.
Two standouts, a big drop in quality to the next ten and then on par with second rounders from the past two drafts.
Consider this - Kemp with a late-season ACL (likely won't be playing until 2021) is still considered likely to go as a top 10 selection.
It is a particularly deficient draft for key-sized players as well.
Jackson is the only ruck of note. Gould and McAsey the only quality defensive talls. Key forwards are almost entirely absent.
That H.Jones and De Koning are being considered as potential first rounders speaks volumes of how shallow the pool is this year.
The previous selections by the club of Brander and O.Allen are now looking very shrewd indeed.
A common criticism/perception is that we’re soft in trade negotiations but go through the players we’ve traded in over the past decade and tell me which ones you wouldn’t do again in a heartbeat
Trades In :
2019
Tim Kelly - Picks 14,24,33 and a future 1st with pick 52 and a future 3rd (Geelong) coming back
2018
Tom Hickey - 39 for 61 and our future 4th for saints future 4th
2017
Brendan Achee - our future 3rd with Hawthorns future 4th coming back to us
2016
Sam Mitchell - Pick 88 and 52 for 54, 70 for 72
Nathan Vardy - Pick 72
2015
Jack Redden - Pick 17
Lewis Jetta - Callum Sinclair
Jonathan Giles - Pick 57 for 62
2013
Eliot Yeo - Pick 28
2012
Sharrod Wellingham - Pick 18
Cale Morton - Pick 88
Jamie Cripps - Picks 40 and 43 for 45
2011
Josh Hill - Pick 49
Kelly is quality and only time will tell if we gave up too much
Wellingham is the main one that stands out particularly since Collingwood drafted Grundy with that pick. However, with Naitanui, Cox and Lycett on our list at the time we were unlikely to pick him anyway and besides Grundy there’s not much of anything in later picks to say we missed a gun, or even a solid player. McIntosh at 31 probably the best of them
As for trading players out there isn’t much evidence
Traded Out :
2015
Callum Sinclair - Lewis Jetta
Matt Rosa - Pick 31 (Tom Cole)
2012
Koby Stevens - Pick 43 (Brant Colledge)
Lewis Stevenson - Pick 88 (Ontraded for Cale Morton)
2011
Brad Ebert - Picks 28 (Fraser McInnes) and 49 for 45 (Ontraded for Josh Hill)
Free Agents
2018
Scott Lycett (End of 1st round compensation - split into picks to draft Xavier O’Neill and Bailey Williams)
2015
Scott Selwood (2nd Round compensation - used with existing 2nd rounder (36&37) for 23 - Luke Partington)
2012
Quinten Lynch (3rd round compensation - Mark Hutchings)
Five players traded out, including Stevenson who was a likely delisting anyway, and 3 free agents lost in a decade is quite remarkable player retention. Other than us getting eberted by Port we did ok out of trades for Stevens, Rosa and Sinclair
Really it’s a myth that we don’t trade hard enough but our deals are more reflective of a club that identifies a player and then ensures it gets the trade done, usually with a minimum of fuss. The attempted trade for Kelly last year is the only time I can think of when we’ve failed to come to an agreement with another club

And a Mento?I just had 2 Tim Tams.
Dollars?I would do Acres for 46.
Big win for freo imoHill worth pick 10 , future 2020 second Rd pick , pick 58 from Geelong for Stevens + Acres by the sounds of it .
Probably fair
He would be decent on a wing but he would cost 350-400 to move over id say.
