BUmber supporters gloated at how happy they were with Allan and Murphy .
I say they were both embarrasing against Geelong and again failed to deliver when the heat was on.Allan`s statistician does not need a sharpener and Murphy has refined his short steps to just miss the contact part of his game very very well indeed. comments?

Murph was one of our better players, as he has been all season. I'm very happy with the trade, i dare say not many top 8 sides have players on min. wage who will finish in the top 10 of their B&F.

Allan has been good in the ruck most of the year too.

id prefer cory and bannister.

they'll both be at least 6 or 7 year players for the carlton football club and at least play for the jumper, unlike murph.

matty allan i cannot fault, great guy and once was a great player who was killed by injury.

I wish Murphy the best of luck at Essedon. I really do. Poor guy, he's got good skills and every bloody club keeps trading him.

I think they would be good trades for Essendon if they were close enough to a flag that those blokes would tip them over the line. Some cool heads to top you up. Pike and Michael in 2001, or Barnes and Barnard in 2000. Even blokes like Rice, Pearce and Clape that Carlton brought in after their 93 loss.

You could argue that Allan was there to help Hille's development, but it didn't appear that way. Murphy was pretty good, but if all it does is take you from 7th to 6th, maybe they'd be better to finish 9th and get Stanton or some other 20y/o another 10 games of experience on the ball.

Easy to say in retrospect, of course.

Yeah, tough call. But I think Carlton had to go in that direction (offloading Murphy and Allan).

Matty Allan was probably done at Carlton a year or two ago, so the best thing for him was a trade. As for Murphy, he can usually always get the ball, but he'll have his days when he's damaging and other days where he wont hurt you with his kicks.

I think both sides benefited, but it looks like Bannister could be a long term player for the Blues, all going well. Hopefully McGrath will have another season to prove himself at the Navy Blues, too.

As a Carlton supporter, I was happy with the trades.
