Just heard on 3AW Caro say that the AFL is negotiating very hard with PA as the AFL don't want it going to the Grievance Tribunal as it will expose their procedures to scrutiny. She expects it to be resolved on Thursday.
Fu ... goodness me ... I can't believe this mob.

And as corrupt or inept that they appear to be, this mob will find a way sometime in the future to get back at us for daring to be in the right. It's the way of the land, the way of the workforce.

If this goes ahead we can expect to see the north Melbourne Tasmania umpiring game all over again, except for every game this season haha

Won’t happen - a certain Roo player by the name of Lindsay Thomas had his bottom lovingly tapped by one of the maggots. That won’t ever happen again.

Yeah, maybe we'll be at the receiving end of some really lopsided and questionable umpiring decisions.

Oh wait.

You are mixing up laws of the land with laws of a competition.

If the AFL breaks laws of the land ie denies natural justice it ends up in court system. If its about a breach of its rules and the Port and SPP think they are wrong, they keep it within the sports system, grievance tribunal and then CAS.

AFL does not employ players. Clubs are the employers, Clubs issue the contracts and pay the players and withhold taxes issue PAYG payment statements etc. The AFL just provides a market place for them to trade/apply their skills.
Pretty sure last year or the year before people were talking about it and it’s the AFL who is the employer overall. Not sure how it works.

One of those AFLW players from the bulldogs was it? Took them to court didn’t they, claiming the suspension she got was biased because she was female and that the AFL men’s wouldn’t have been given the same. And she won.

Why can’t SPP/Port do the same? There’s a shit tonne of examples they can use to show bias in favour of Victorian players..if the AFL does suspend him of course.

Damage has well and truly been done though
Yep, damage’s been done but it would be worse for SPP if the AFL hung him out to dry. An official AFL statement that makes zero reference to sexual assault would help. I can imagine that the AFL integrity unit is burning the midnight oil rewriting its report.

Let’s get that out of the way. Then let’s see the club have a real crack at Ch7

AFL is doing everything in it's power to make SPP admit guilt. If he does it renders his potential defamation case against their host broadcaster null and void. They do not want channel 7 getting in trouble in any form because of this **** up.

You mean, she'd be completely comfortable having C7 looking after her legal issues?
In the big scheme of things, she is an absolute nobody reporter that will at best/ worst just slip away if any action is taken against her.
Trashy reporters like her are a dime a dozen, 99% of the SA population would have never ever heard of her - so for her to go away means less than nothing!

Sam is the bloke who everyone will remember - even non footy people know his name and associate it with being a rapist or something heinous like that!

On a positive note, he looked in a pretty good head space this morning at training and was his jovial, bubbly self.

Once his path was clear and he knew the club had his back, there is nothing to fear. I think he was more shattered that he let the club down more than anything else and was worried that they would abandon him in his hour of need.

He needn't have worried. We're a family, after all.

Very pleased to hear that Sam appears to be doing OK.

I disagree, if she gets outed for her gutter journalism it will send a clear message to her and the next trashy reporter to be careful as every now and then their actions will be held to account - this is why it is so good that as a club we are standing strong for Sam.

Interesting take. Definitely feasible. I want SPP to take ch7 and the vfl to the cleaners. It is well overdue.

To be a fly on the wall in the negotiations. That fact that it’s taken this long without an outcome suggests that Port has some real leverage. The AFL would have hoped that SPP and Port would simply roll over.

The AFL will be weighing up the need to protect Ch 7 against the risk of having its dodgy procedures being publicly exposed.

Port Adelaide young gun Sam Powell-Pepper is expected to miss a third game this weekend, but to have the wording of his misconduct charge amended in a deal between Port and the AFL over an incident involving a woman at a night spot.

The AFL have already decided Powell-Pepper is guilty of ‘‘conduct unbecoming’’ under the league’s new respect and responsibility policy.

"Conduct Unbecoming"

AFLSpeak
up there with

prior opportunity

insufficient intent

rough conduct

incorrect disposal

(PS I know it's real terminology and so but)
