Even so, she will not be personally liable (if there is any liability).
True however it could be career limiting hopefully. If C7 is sued she almost undoubtedly will face an internal investigation and is likely to have breached policies and guidelines. She is junior enough that she might get pushed to the sidelines and fade from the public view.

The Port Pirie recorder, may have a vacancy there?

I have a feeling this was the moment Elspeth thought she could prove she was a real journalist rather than a social media 'journalist' employed due to 'connections'.
Lol, no doubt. This was a BIG story. Her BIG break. No more filing "World's Best Butcher" stories to the Adelaide bureau. She'd be on a plane to Sydney and reading off an autocue from the Martin Place studios in no time.

Except... she got ahead of the story. Way ahead. And then there's those damn pesky facts and shit. Oh and, Kochie being the network star and all.

Poor Elspeth...

Not sure about that. She should be sued for defamation along with channel 7. If the case is successful and damages awarded, she will be required to pay. Then, she would seek indemnity from her employer. She may well know that she will be indemnified from the start.

Still doesn't mean her career trajectory won't at the very least take a significant hit.

They could send her up to Brisbane to join her former colleague - the bloke (Lohser I think his name was) who started Amy Taeuber's troubles. She's probably been called worse things than a lesbian by those nasty Port supporters, so she'd be able to put up with this fellow's banter.

Yep. Elspeth may be the toast of the Port Adelaide hating provincial Adelaide subdivision of the 7 Network, but the higher-ups in Sydney who have no beef with us won't be too pleased with her if this goes really pear shaped for them.

Nope, Crows have 2 shows on 7 and she is a Crows supporter and game presenter. I think she will be looked after by the Adelaide General Manager and even applauded behind the scenes. Anyway this issue is bigger than her and we need to remember that 7 would have good lawyers, being the gossip and sensationalist reporting station that they are.

And let's remember, for all Essendon did to the AFL, they don't seem to be suffering much at their hands since then, do they? They got top ups, high draft picks etc etc.
I hate to tell you this, but I think the AFL may look after Essendon a bit more than us.

I feel for for poor Sam in all this. He will know that all this has major potential ramifications for the club, and his team mates.

Would be a pointless exercise if it's the SA Supreme Court.
"All rise. The Court of South Australia is now in session, the honourable Judge Riciutto presiding...."

*Riciutto takes his chair and bangs gavel*

"This court is now in session".

I agree, we are really talking about a young man's reputation here. Irrespective of this loyalties Koch has to lead the charge against SEVEN and the AFL. A young man's reputation has been forever blighted here despite a lack of hard evidence. Unless the AFL have uncovered hitherto unknown evidence this is simply a case of one person's word against another with no collaborating evidence. We owe it to Sam Powell-Pepper to help him clear his name.
