If SPP and the club refuse to roll over ( and that will be the key to ending this f****** witch hunt ) then I expect the AFL will try to save face and arrange a deal, those gutless campaigners won't stand the heat for too much longer.

Which court has jurisdiction in this case?

Hopefully it's the Federal Court.

Would be a pointless exercise if it's the SA Supreme Court.
I'm sure Elspeth would get a fair hearing in the birthplace of the AFC.

If SPP is out until round 7 and can play today then that would appear a negotiation has been finalised. When Port said he wouldn't play against Geelong but would against Sturt then this was their acceptable position. He wouldn't play against North under those circumstances.

The key now is the wording of the AFL report.

When this is finalised action against 7 can be pursued.

All I really want out of this is fair reporting for both clubs in the future.
Wont happen. It is not just an Adelaide thing, same happens in Melb. But because we only have 2 teams it is amplified. One daily paper & social media anonymity.

Regardless of the Crows supporters & Rucci issues, there is a lot of things that go unreported & are mostly irrelevant.

I commented a few dozen pages back that this case would be ideal for a Media Watch bake of Channel 7, but on reflection I'm not so sure - the production meeting might go something like this:

So you'll've heard about Channel 7 in Adelaide making all sorts of unfounded allegations about an AFL player...?

The sexual assault case? Or the AFLW bum tap one - surely what happens on the field stays on the field?

Not that one - anyway, the point is, Channel 7 have accused this player - by name - of sexual assault on air and across social media, despite the accuser not reporting it to the police and without any evidence to back it up - it's just her word against his.

Her word against his. No evidence you say - isn't this the guy filmed staggering about the street hassling a young woman? Looked like he wanted to steal her handbag too.

That's not the woman who made the complaint. Anyway, the point is, Channel 7 has "alleged" him as being guilty of sexual assault without any due process - they can't even use the names of pedos and rapists until they've been convicted in a court of law - but this young Indigenous man has to wear the slur even if nothing is proven.

Indigenous eh? Often the case, sadly - bloody AFL clubs, they pluck these kids from their remote communities and just throw them in the deep end of big city life - where's the duty of care, eh?

He's from Perth actually and Port Adelaide is renowned for its Indigenous support programs - they're planning on building an Aboriginal Academy and Centre of Excellence, although the funding is looking a bit dodgy with the recent change of government in SA...

"New Liberal Government Abandons Indigenous AFL Players" - I think we have our story! Can we work that Sally Zou woman in there somehow - she's thick as thieves with that lot isn't she?

Crikey. Just like he is a naive 20 yr old so too is she.
Couldn't it be that she got played by the TV mob?
There is a part of that, of course. As far as I've read and listened she didnt claim it as sexual assault but even at 20 years of age you would be fully aware that taking the matter to the news was blowing trumpets.

Look forward to the impending announcement of law suits against C7 and the AFL/VFL!!

We won't be suing the AFL. This looks like a negotiated outcome. However, the door is still left wide open for Sam, with the club's backing, to go after Channel 7.

Cool, but now are we still going after 7 for their reporting?
Rucci in his latest tiser article published in the last 30 minutes says port still plan on legal action against one media network for their portrayal of the events in question.

Even so, she will not be personally liable (if there is any liability).
I don’t know for sure but anything she posted on her personal twitter account would be her responsibility.
Furthemore surely she would personally liable for anything posted that fits the guidelines for deformation.
