Dougy was a genuine cult hero. A premiership player who kicked the undoubted sealer. There is nothing almost about him.

I like this topic. Theres two vectors: cultishness (cult following), and heroicism (had a reasonable playing career). TO qualify you can be an "almost" on either.

Quadrant 1 - dead set cult heroes. So cant qualify. Ill comment that many such types are being named here (betheres, anyone 1990, etc)

Quadrant 2 - guys who reached cult following but never reached proper playing status (dick, rusling, Hrysoulakis, sier). id say this is the main qualifying category

Quadrant 3 - had a an afl career, but werent quite charismatic enough to have a cult following lol (jesse white, Q stick, woewoedin). just not quite cool enough. I guess you can technically qualify like this.

And Quadrant 4 isnt worth mentioning, because you are neither cultish or heroic. But in this quadrant there is one limit case - being a cultish thing in and of itself - the "almost cultish almost hero" being jack madgen.
