Now, getting away from the initial 'Should we/shouldnt we' argument (thats another argument altogether), lets assume the AFL actually bothered laying down some rules on the issue (as opposed to 'be nice to the umpires' days or whatever the hell they are doing there), and specified if we were the 'away' team to Port, North or possibly St.Kilda, that we had to find an alternate strip.

What would be most acceptable?

Black and silver stripes if we are to go away from black and white. Won't do any good against Port but would look good, something similar to North's 2nd strip would be fine in my opinion.

I like the idea of a white jumper. A bit like the Swans (or North's away strip), with perhaps a black yoke across the shoulders or Magpie on the chest.

But definitely black and white.

I like the idea of an all back guernsey with a small white Magpie ( not that tackorama sleek Magpie that covers the whole front). But it would clash wilth too many I think.
So, all black with white stripes.

I correct my opinion.

We should have a "clash" white jumper (for away game agaist the "dark" sides like Essendon Brisbane etc), but not an automatic away jumper.

Thats what I think too. A white jumper with the Black magpie logo, similar to the early 90's training jumper (I think thats what it was) would be fine by me. And not an automatic away jumper, just one for clashing away games.

Fair enough too, keep tradition.

Woolen jumper, black number on white background, no sponsors logos, knee high socks and shorts to the knee, oh and a cap.

I really have no problem with an alternate guernsey for clashes, and I'd prefer the reversing of the stripes if we were to do so.

So what Locky said.

Why don't Port do what Eddie suggests' and don the magenta.

Then we will talk ;)

Great then the Pink Magpies will look like we are supporting that Port Pretender Club!..... NO I don`t think so.

Why don`t they just give there Jumper more teal like it was meant to be!

What would happen if we refused to have an alternate strip even when the AFL "make" us do it?

Just say no Ed!

Perhaps if you didn't wear the away strip at an away match they might strip you of the 4 points if you won, as well as hefty fines? I dunno, but if that was going to happen would Collingwood still refuse?
Not that my opinion's worth much here, but if you were to have an away strip I'd vote for either the black magpie logo on the front with the white back, or just the normal stripes on the front with plain white on the back. I don't think you should change your colours.

Not sure if the AFL really could or more importantly would take points away.

Black and white stripes is all we need and all that we should wear. Our jumper doesn't clash if we are careful with logos and the backing for the number.

Nah that jumper would be Tacky with a capital 'T'

If we must have an away jumper it should be with the white back. Then we aren't getting away from tradition and we'll have a predominatly black jumper and a predominately white jumper.

I love our Wizard Cup guernsey, but then that one wouldn't solve any problems because its too black.

With the Pies' "white back" jumper, Collingwood is blessed with the opportunity to take the lead on the issue and actively institute an alternate jumper without sacrificing either its colours or its designs.

Make the black jumper with black shorts and black socks the home gear, and go to white jumper with white shorts and predominantly white socks (with a little black) for clashes.

By doing this, not only can Collingwood milk the publicity cow ("good for other clubs and supporters, but doesn't sacrifice our traditions" etc), but it saves the club the potential headache of being dragged into a vastly more untraditional setup when the AFL eventually enforces alternate strips. Far better to do it on your own terms than on the AFL's terms!
