I was about to post that this is the problem with the MRP. IMO, an action should be illegal, regardless of the outcome. Then I thought about it logically and my mind changed a bit.

If you shoot someone, you are charged with intentionally causing harm (or whatever, I'm not a lawyer). If they die, you are charged with murder. It is the same action (shooting someone), but the result is different I guess this is the MRP's stance as well. If you bump someone, or sling tackle them and they aren't injured, you get a lesser penalty than if they are injured.

What if you intentionally aim for that person's foot, rather than their head or chest?
Surely a different level of severity?

Which is the case in the Buddy one vs Walker.
Torso first vs shoulder first.
But, hey, I'm actually looking at the incidents... apparently one of the few.

(Strikes me that a lot of people are immediately saying "both sling tackles = both as bad as each other... never mind what hits first". Which is utterly, utterly ridiculous)

Waters has been cited twice this year for similar bumps, missing this week through suspension.

It's the high impact that's the killer for Davey. Didn't look high impact to me but the medical report might have cost him.

Reckon about 80% of the contact is shoulder on shoulder, and that's where he meant to get him - but he just clips the chin on the way through. You can see his head jerk around. If Hanneberry pulls his head back at the last second he misses. Matter of inches.

Not hit him in the head would be a good start, you can't be bumping players heads off! Look if the shoes were on the other foot, I would want Hannerbery suspended, so in that regard, the outcome is fair, although one could argue medium impact.

Until precedence comes in the MRP are never going to be held accountable for their decision making. I could cop Davey's suspension if Kelly, Waters (incident a few weeks back) and Glass all were suspended as well. They all hit their opponents in the head with bumps and were not suspended.

If the suspension is purely based on the medical report they should come out and say this. Otherwise nobody knows what is going on.

This pisses me off, it counts as a 2 week injury to a very important player to me. And he hasn't missed a beat for weeks, the last thing I wanted was for something to get in between that...

God damnit. Will the bye count as a week? I mean it's still a duration of time. How the hell are we supposed to win at Subi now.

My prediction

Sling tackles only penalise the result - Sore head = weeks. Which is part of protecting the head at all costs.

Sling tackles dont penalise an illegal action - Which is wrong ?

I guarantee that a player will break his arm/damage his shoulder from a sling tackle - And bet your lost dollar a player will be suspended.

Sling tackles should be penalised as an illegal action and add weeks for injury to the player.

Definition of a sling tackle - One when the tackled players legs leave the ground.

Bit unlucky. A few years ago that would have been a free kick at most or play on. But how can you argue the system with the rules they've set in place in trying to protect a players head? Davey should have went low and for a tackle. Wouldn't have been much of a risk off the half back line if he had of gotten done for tackling the man without the ball, but at least he would have been able to line up next week.
