The two weirdest units to play for the Fremantle Dockers, Clive and Kepler, both wore #26.

I hope you don't think this is actually a coincidence ;)

I initially agreed with you "Righteo" but when we tie Jack Anthony into "Stanley's" mix, this Freo "weirdest units" 26 thing gains strength. The 2nd time Jack was drafted to an AFL Club he went to you guys at pick #6. Second draft ........... pick 6, join the dots Righteo, that's "26". Also he played 8 games for Freo. That's 2+6 games .........26 and you wouldn't want to guess which round he made his debut. Just do 2+6 again, it was round 8!

You've heard the saying "He's not playing with a full deck"? It's interesting that 26 is also exactly half a deck. There may be some relevance.

Ok so 1992 Saturday arvo lunch time slot out at Waverley in Wet, miserable conditions Hawthorn lead West Coast at Qtr time. Eagles fight back and kick 11 goals for the game with Sumich kicking 5. Eagles win the flag.

In 2006 at the MCG Eagles trail at quarter time and at 3 quarter time by 5 points in atrocious conditions. They fight back and win a close game by 10 points with Lynch kicking 5 goals. They went onto win the flag

Today the Eagles trail Hawthorn at the MCG During the Saturday arvo lunch time slot like the above games ( and like the above played in wet miserable conditions ) They trail at 3qtr time by 5 points like in 2006, and end up beating the Hawks for the first time there since the above game. They finished with 11 goals ( like in 1992 ) and once again their KPP Player in Darling kicks 5 goals.

Beat Hawthorn in Melbourne for the first time last year although it was at Marvel. Went on to win the flag ( half time goal tally of 6 like today )

Also in 1992, 2006 and 2019 the games they played against the Hawks they played in a grand final the year before! 2018 they won it

Premiers this year?

Eagles beat Collingwood by a goal or less with the last goal and Hawthorn with a goal or less with the last goal of the game at Punt Rd end.

Difference was Jamie Cripps not Dom Sheed kicking the winning goal.

The year that we missed finals by the smallest percentage in history we were just behind WC

WC for and against finished the year as 1964 and 1858
1964 the year of our last premiership
1858 the year we were founded.

**** you footy gods
Essendon’s FA that year was 2004 - last year they won a Finals match

Fremantle vs Carlton is the 3rd time we've seen 79-75 as a final score this year. Previously, Fremantle beat Collingwood, and GWS beat Geelong by the same scoreline.

Last time I remember the same score happening three times in a year was in 2006 with 85-84 (I'm not sure about this though). Brisbane beat North 85-84 in Round 15 and of course, the two finals between West Coast and Sydney were decided by that same scoreline.

In 2018, Tom Mitchell racked up 848 disposals (avg 35.3) and won the Brownlow Medal
Hawthorn finished the season in 4th place with 15 wins, 7 losses and ranked mid-table for clearance differential (-0.6)

In 2019, Tom Mitchell broke his leg during pre-season training and was sidelined for the season
Hawthorn are currently in 15th place with 5 wins and 9 losses and they're the clear worst team for clearance differential (-7.1)

Amazing coincidence, huh?

It seems like an amazing coincidence that every AFL player ever caught betting on their own sport always had some tiny s**ts and giggles bet like $5 or $20 or $50. Especially when there are many with huge disposable incomes that may throw huge bets on horses or other sports and there appear to be many with legitimate gambling issues.

Yet the one sport they may actually be in a position to profit from (especially to dig themselves out of an awkward debt) they will be putting in tiny s**ts and giggles bets.

Amazing coincidence.
