In mid 2005, Port Adelaide had their biggest win and biggest loss in the competition to date within three weeks - both by 117-points. Three weeks before the Power defeated the Hawks by 117-points in Adelaide, they had played West Coast at Subiaco in Round 10, with Port Adelaide leaving Perth with a 117-point thrashing from the Eagles.

Further adding to the coincidences, Port's biggest winning margin to that stage was by 112-points over the West Coast Eagles in a match played at Football Park in the final round of 2001.

In the 32 games played at York Park in the 2000s, the highest score by a team was 117 points, which occurred two occasions

Round 10, 2002, and Round 8, 2008 - Both games involved Hawthorn and Port Adelaide

Why the Brisbane Bears scored 2.5-17 was understandable. It was a cold and windy day in the middle of winter at Princes Park against Hawthorn in 1988, played in teeming rain from opening bounce to final siren, with the ground a mudheap, one wing resembling a lake.

The Brisbane Lions scored 2.5-17 against Richmond at the MCG on a fine and sunny autumn day and a good playing surface in 2018. And while the 2018 Lions were not a good team by any stretch, they were an improving team, one far better than the dismal seasons of 2015, 2016 & 2017.
