Norm Smith also played for and coached Fitzroy, and how long was it since Fitzroy had won a premiership until the Brisbane Lions broke the drought in 2001? This was 57 years, dating back to Fitzroy's premiership in 1944. Interestingly Len Smith, Norm Smith's older brother, played for Fitzroy around this time (and would later coach them), but missed the Lions' 1944 flag team due to wartime duties with the RAAF.

I'm sure its been mentioned already, but Collingwood's September hoodoo still exists. Have not won a Grand Final in September since defeating the Dees on 20 September 1958

The 1990 decider was played on October 6th (schedule pushed back courtesy of the draw and Replay in the Qualifying final between Collingwood and West Coast) and the 2010 GF Replay was on October 2nd.

The 1910 decider was too pushed back to October due to the death of Edward VII which was won by Collingwood
