The sweep literally makes no difference to them at all. The game is already a dead rubber, the result is irrelevant.
Bet they wear blue shirts to the judiciary tho. The referees probably wear blue jerseys under their gear on the field too. If that was a NSW player, they'd be banned for 1 game.

I agree, Walsh needs to control himself more but I think suspending players for 3 games over something like this is ridiculous. Players probably say a whole load of sh*t under their breaths about the referees. But they're not all gonna be suspended for weeks are they?

Yeh even as a Broncos and Maroons fan my only "concern" was on the consistency and the degree of doubt, the actual suspension and what he said is pretty fair IMO.

Yeah maybe we should have robots being referees tho bc I don't think the game should be this sensitive I mean players say some of the most horrible things on the field and a lot of them get away with it. If we had robot referees then they'll get the decisions right and they won't be hurt by these things.

Probably worth some detail here.

It was Walsh’s third misconduct charge, he didn’t cop three games ONLY because of this weekends spray.

In addition refs need to hold a position of respect at the top flight levels all the way down.

If the judiciary found Walsh called a ref a campaigner then even if that was the only indiscretion I think 3 weeks is fine. That’s obviously a personal opinion but you can’t call a ref a campaigner. Ever. There’s no conspiracy here.

I didn't know about his history. But I don't want the game to become soft like the AFL with the "dissent" calls. Also it depends on the decision I mean the refs did cost the Cowboys a grand final berth last year with that disgraceful no call on an obvious Moses forward pass. If it was something like that, I'd say the refs deserve to cop a good spray. No fine, no suspension for that 😂

Abusing referees is not tough.

Teams for game 3, no interest it seems?

NSW sticking with Teddy... Surely a farewell game? Dont mind Best into the team, pretty shocked Ado Carr stays (Freddie still got PTSD from not playing him last year maybe). I like Walker and Moses but its incredible Hynes cant get a game in this team. Only other thing of note to me for the Blues is Gutho in 17. Not sure hes a smart utility choice TBH.

Brimson for Walsh i rate. Ponga might be the easy choice but Brimmo plays alot like Walsh and is a bit quicker. Its clearly next man up for the Maroons.

Word is Ponga ruled himself out again over the weekend.

Fittler seems to be trolling NSW with some puzzling selections

I'm dirty the Maroons picked Horsborough, and not disappointed that the Blues dropped Young (despite him being nowhere near the worst over the last 2 games.)

For a dead rubber I'd rather have Raiders players at the club.

Genuine question - was Cody Walker eligible to play Origin for Queensland?

1. Born in NSW or QLD? NSW
2. Majority of league played U6 - U18? NSW
3. Majority of schooling K - 12? NSW
4. First U16 rep competition? QLD
5. First school state rep footy? QLD
6. Father played SoO? No

Seems like a clear 3-2 win for NSW but the eligibility sheet seems to suggest there is a provision in place for players who live the majority of their life in one state but play rugby league in another state, which is quite obviously in place for those who grow up near the state border. That provision seems to apply to Walker who grew up in Casino (NSW) but played high level junior rugby league for Palm Beach Currumbin (QLD). So could Walker have played for Queensland if he applied for that provision?

Not sure if I mentioned it in this thread but I expected Brimson and Horsburgh to debut (after the Walsh suspension and Flegler injury). Expect Billy to keep using his 18th and 19th man in the future if he's forced to make changes. Seems like that's how he's going to go about things.

As for NSW, not too surprised by Luai given his behaviour and no Cleary. Best came out of the clouds but after seeing the Knights win on the weekend, I was thinking wasn't this the same guy NSW wanted to have on their team? And now they do. I've been saying Koloamatangi should've played from Game I so idk why it took this long. Hudson Young was just a waste of time he was never going to work, all he did was get in the face of the opposition and then look stupid after the siren. Saifiti again I said he should've been in the team to begin with. Jurbo is a no brainer. Gutherson was the one that surprised me, did not expect that one at all.

I think the plan might be (if no one 1-7 gets injured) to use him at 13 as a playmaking substitute perhaps? And then switch with Robson or Robson might take Cooks minutes. Cook should probably come off the bench anyways. But the big thing here is the forward pack. With Haas and Paulo out and NSW opting to use 2 utilities, it looks like it can get shot. QLD really need to feed through the middle and rip and tear to exploit that weakness. I'd like to see them run consecutive plays through the middle and get support runners to push through bc if you can tire the defense of those bigs when NSW only has one big bopper on the bench, it could be huge in determining the outcome of the game.

On the Cook, Gutho, Robson thing, thats probably the bit that seems the weirdest to me. Obviousy you dont want Cook having to play in the centres again but youve yet again got 3 guys in speciality positions. Robson, Cook both hookers (and really only hookers) and then a "utility" who is really a fullback. If youre going with the playmaker thing then pick Hynes.

I still reckon Burton is the best guy for the 17 personally, at least there is some flexibility there.

Yeah Burton covers centre much better. Gutho can't play centre imo. Don't think he'll be needed there so pretty much waste of a spot for Freddy. He's gonna play 13 lol. Or if Teddy has a shocker he might come on as fullback mid game. Two utilities don't really work in Origin.

Just cannot see how NSW win this with the amount of changes

The players brought in are not good either

QLD 13+/Over 41

Why would he even consider QLD when he is Koori?

Who cares who he played his first rep game for LOL

Remeber when the best QLDers had to play for NSW during the initial SOO due to them playing in NSW at the time

A bit of a who gives a s**t game for neutrals.

I expect NSW to win given the circumstances, a few at risk of their origin careers, a few keen to impress and lock themselves in for 2024 games.

Add to the fact NSW might be a bit more desperate to avoid losing 3-0 at home, than QLD would be to win 3-0 travelling, and I think with the pressure off (from the series perspective) NSW will edge and get a win.

NSW 20-16

Just don't know what to think. If they win, it's why the eff didn't you play those players when the series was live? If they lose, I'm wondering why was Freddy given a farewell game in this most brutal of sports?
