I’d prefer to drop DCE (due to age, may as well start blooding someone) but really lacking a quality 7 to come in - unless I’m forgetting someone obvious?
Been a hole for a while. Walker when not injured, otherwise it’s a bare cupboard.

Surely we can claim Hughes 😂

I’d drop Grant and play Dearden there tbh. Or bring Mahoney in.
I know I am a stat nerd and probably am over reliant on them at times but for most of the season he’s literally been the worst defensive hooker in the nrl. Not just by a percentage point or two but by a lot - ie. most hookers in the nrl tackle at about 93-97 per cent effectiveness.

Mahoney has recently improved to around 90 so to his credit he’s worked very hard on it obviously. But it was around 85 after round 7 so it’s obviously something that’s troubled him previously. Given how much Qld battle in the guts I don’t think he would be an option

Absolutely loved this NSW lineup.

Moses and Cleary worked. Crichton and Latrell are great in the centres. Lomax as our Coates sized target on the wing.

King/Barnett/Haas all over 100m. Fantastic to see.
Still can’t believe they haven’t run Moses and Cleary before.

I’d say it’s also a huge part of the reason the Bulldogs are ok with moving him on.

Fair, I just think Harry was a liability tonight. I’d drop him for that stupid foot in the ruck alone.

Been years in the making, that’s for sure.

Pretty handy having Cleary/Moses/Luai all capable of playing 6/7 and being effective while doing it, no matter the combination.

Don’t think Moses did anything ‘wrong’ tonight and he’s no danger of being dropped or anything - he will see out the series obviously - but if they somehow conspired to stuff it up in the last half hour you’d maybe question if it worked as it mostly, aside from that brilliant pass to Mitchell, seemed to be Cleary orchestrating the dangerous looking stuff.

Think the amount of bullshit that has begun to overshadow actual football has sapped my love for Origin. I used to love it.

Now spying scandals, ‘NSW don’t get it’ stories, selection stupidity, conspiracy yarns about referees, the usual bullshit about so-and-so not being from whatever state when he was born, eligibility stuff, ‘so and so hasn’t dominated origin before so he can’t be the best ever’, ‘this bloke was made for origin’’ Has all overtaken the actual football itself and it’s sort of destroyed my love of the contest.

Once upon a time I really gave a shit who won or lost, I’m still supporting Qld but im not going to be especially upset if it goes the other way

I couldn't care less who wins in clubland but Origin is the only time I give a shit about who wins and who doesn't. There are times when Origin gets hyped to within an inch of its life, almost like any more hype and it feels manufactured. The last 2 deciders were very good games but recency bias meant they had to spoken about as though they were close to being the greatest games of rugby league ever played.

I did think last year’s one was a bit of a throwback to those sorts of matches but part of me wonders if the aggro was part of that or not. The low scoring nature of it certainly helped

After losing game 1 at home and needing to win game 2 in order to save the series in 2022, the Blues picked their team for game 2 on the Sunday and flew straight to Perth looking like a side that meant business and they played like it. Queensland on the other hand, rocked up in Perth about 3 days before the game and played like it. We need to pick a team that gives us the best chance of winning the physical battle and head to Perth immediately ready for a game that must be won come hell or highwater.
