Just finished watching the replay. Was a bit early in the morning to watch live.

Thank heavens for the result. And to be 4-0 with our draw is an absolute dream. Be nice to have continued on in the second half, but Sydney are a top aide and unrealistic to destroy them for a whole game. Especially if it seems some guys were under the weather.

A very important factor this year is the clear umpiring bias against us seems to have been removed. Amazing how much easier it is when you get your share of free kicks.

From where I sit the thing I take out of last night is that we are not the perfect side and we have big areas of improvement yet despite that, we have made the best start to a season in our history! It's a long season so we can develop and get better, I want us to be playing our best footy in September!

Did anyone notice the Swans' banner? Talk about bad taste, especially on Anzac Day (Cellarbrations!). Loved the simplicity of our Lest We Forget.

Yeah I thought that was very tacky. Even for a normal round having a giant advert as your banner is tacky.

Guess they don't call them $ydney for nothing.

Subbing out Tabs? Why??? Bring him in, score 100+ two weeks running. On track for same in this game. Sub out and then we don't score a goal for 1.5 quarters. It's not rocket science Ross!!

Being a pr0n star, I wouldn't know any better myself and we'll never know whether it would have been better to leave Tabs on but it seemed like arresting Sydney's dominance might have been a priority at that time. The Boss is a big believer in it being won or lost in the midfield and at the time he made that sub, it's indesptuable that we were getting decimated therein. I think he felt he needed that extra body and gut running capacity at that time.

Good win fellas.

I wouldn't dismiss the travel/break effect on that performance. 6 day break after the Eagles (on a warm day) and prior to that the Cats in Geelong.

You've been up for three, only natural you might trail off in one of the games.

Impressive to hold them off like that, that takes a bit of steel. Looking way better than last year.

We won a game with several players missing, that would be considered in our best 22. So the most important factor out of this game is
we will improve, and we have other players smashing down the door for an opportunity.
I think the only addition from the 2013 team is Tabs getting games, so plenty of upside to come.
Also didn't really replace Ballas as such, we held on this time, but Sydney will also do their homework on us.

I must say it again. Lee Spurr is as hard as chinese arithmetic. He doesn't take a backward step. Clancee is becoming an important cog. His second, third efforts all night were fantastic. Deboer is not naturally gifted, however, he has a big heart and is as strong as an ox. Wrestling the ball out and keeping his feet whilst attacking the contest with gusto gave us good grunt. When we needed a lift Fyfe, mundy, ibbo and sandi were awesome. Fyfe was an animal in the last, liflting his teammates with his attack. A bit worried aboit our third when sandi rested. We got amashed in the middle. I think clarke is more a forwaard/ruckman rather than ruck/forward so when sandi retires he stays forward. Mcpharlin was amazing and angered bud. Demolition derby on 7 last night was fun too. Phil matera on a stretcher.

Wasn't pretty in the second half, but we're now sitting pretty on 4-0. There were a few articles at the start of the season warning that Freo had a tough start and could be 0-4. So to get 4 wins is a real bonus. We've got to consolidate now and keep on winning and lock up that top 4 spot.

My concern now is that they breathe out (to quote a great philosopher) now that the hard run is over and we get rolled by some lesser teams.

I think one way to guard against that is to run at least one and maybe two changes each of the "easier" rounds to keep the enthusiasm levels high.

Agree but that's why I think the last couple weeks of scares will hold us in good stead. It's strange to say but I feel that if we rolled Sydney and WC I'd be a little more worried about the Dees

I don't care how we do it, as long as we keep winning.

The third man up in the stoppages didn't work last night, especially in the third when we continued to get that third up and Sydney would clear it easily. The move of Reid to the midfield really did make a difference for Sydney as well, was some great coaching by Sydney. Both teams very evenly matched.

Great result to be 4-0 so far, now time to build on it.

Yeah I agree. Bringing in Crozier/Duffy and Blakely/Weller for games now is what is needed. Also games into Silvagni and Dawson, rotations are key for longevity and hunger in the team.

Unbelievable game and cant fault anyone, Suban was solid and Ibbo stood up.

Biggest worry for me was we couldn't stop the run when it came, 7 goals straight. That's 2 weeks in a row now, and Ross would want to sort that out quickly.

I know teams are always going to get momentum but we cant afford to let teams kick 5 - 6 unanswered goals.

I don't know what they are drinking pre game, but they come out breathing fire, total opposite from last year where we used to start slow and run over teams in the last qtr.

We won with a bunch of elite players being well held. Walters, Barlow, Neale all very quiet and we beat a very good side.

As fans , we are also going to have a lot of frustration with the development of Taberner.
It is going to be tough with Tabs and he is probably set to make way next week for Ballantyne.
Not a good game for Tabs against Sydney.

He shouldn't be. Kicked 3 against Melbourne in the pre season game and he provides another marking option up forward.
