I hope they keep tabs all season tbh.. Provides Pav a little more support plus he has hardly played these big games, thought he was providing a target really nicely at time.. But jeez he had to content with Sydney COLA bs with Sam Reid up back.

Tabs was subbed because without Ballas in the team we were too tall and the ball was coming out of attacking 50 too easily. Was just a tactical decision to go smaller that saw Tabs subbed. I reckoned n with Ballas back, Tabs will get four quarters at the G next week - and I'll be there to cheer him

Too lazy to read the whole thread. Any discussion on these yet?

1. Did anybody see what happened to Pav? Commentators say accidental head clash but Pav was having a quiet word with the ump.
2. Did somebody clip that peanut around the the ear hole when he yelled out during the minute silence?

1. I didn't.
2. You don't hit the mentally challenged.
Subiaco Oval management should tell the staff behind the stands though. Every year, you can hear the people talking in he bars and food stalls.

It probably didn't help that they played the last post in an ad a couple of times before the real thing (I actually got out of a food queue and raced upstairs only to find out it was an ad) and maybe there was a bit of the boy who cried wolf.

I doubt there is anything in the Pavs nose incident. If it wasnt innocent, he would of at least instigated a push and shove and the other boys would have got involved as well.

Sydney is class. They were always going to make a charge at us at some point. Those here overanalysing and being over critical of the third quarter are massively off base. We just beat a genuine premiership contender and our season is set-up.
I think Walters is being troubled by a sore ankle and isnt moving 100% of what he is capapable of. I wouldnt mind if they gave him the week off to rest: Balla and Sheridan (sub) in: Walters and De Boer out is my prediction.

Did anyone notice the Swans' banner? Talk about bad taste, especially on Anzac Day (Cellarbrations!). Loved the simplicity of our Lest We Forget.

It was the subject of many comments where I was sitting. All considered it in very poor taste. Pretty disgracelful I think on the part of the Swans. Freos was far more appropriate to Anzac Day

First two games vs Port and Geelong we finished strong in the last half because the game was still there to be won.

Last two games vs Weagles and Swans we had what was a game winning lead by half time only to see it whittle away. Part of the issue is surely coming down to mental focus.

Freo off a 6 day break for the Sydney match on Sunday may have contributed to a bit of a fade out. Last season I seem to recall we hardly won any games off 6 day breaks.

The fade out versus the Egos was just a matter of putting the cue back in the rack - ugly for us to watch that kind of play but we had their measure after the first quarter.

Many teams are moving that way, with the 3rd being a Mitch Clark or Jesse White type. Ibbo can play that role, so can Silvagni. But Dawson on one of the big 2 can maybe free up to MJ or Ibbo to roam and rip apart through half back.

But agree with broader point, this is all-star level defense from our back 6 currently. No need to change willy nilly.
Not likely to be an issue any time soon.

Dawson is still listed as 3-4 weeks away (unchanged for the past month or so) and Silvagni reportedly suffering a significant leg injury (hamstring?) playing for Peel today.

Actually not a bad thing to have.. Re the resting, this is more of a like to like and a win win in terms of structure. Do need Walters against Essendon though..

Don't count your Chas votes before they're called.

Hope he wins it, but the maggots have form.

I have just called it as I see it which coincidentally is the same as various media awards polling as well as the coaches association.
Of course the favourites don't always win. I know that and so do you, so not sure what your point is.

It's easy to write off Tabs' game because he was subbed and we got back into the game afterwards, but I think he actually played really well, it was just a good tactical decision to sub him off.
That first 1/2 the way he & Pav played off each other was beautiful. In the 3rd the ball was no where near our forwards, so he just needs to learn to play up the ground & to run it if we get into that kind of position again.

I do not knock Freo players but suffice to say I personally was not impressed with his game last night.

Exactly.

Fred Ziffel has form for going early. Like these posts before the Geelong match for which he was rightly ridiculed:

4 - 0 , back it in.

I didn't say it would be easy and we need to get over Geelong tomorrow
If we do , I feel confident we can beat both wc and Sydney at Subiaco. We have been very close to Sydney for a few years now ; there is very little between us when we are close to full strength.
I would have money on Freo going 4-0.

Pro: We're winning despite not playing our best team. Gu showed that straight away when he came on, even though plenty on here said we shouldn't change a winning team. He's just flat out better than Suban, Pearce, DeBoer.
So this week Ballas comes in for one of those 3, and when Dawson is fit he comes in too.
Sheridan would be very close if he's fit. We should be trying to improve, win or lose.

By the way we had a revealing glimpse of D Pearce in the 4th quarter, when real finals like pressure was on. On his on, straight in front from 50 - out on the full.

Tab is in the team for his tall presence, anything he produces is a bonus. We bought Gumbleton just to be that tall, but he was a complete dud, so we had no real choice but to get Tab/Appness/Hannath as the player.

Its a issue that seems to be still affecting us :/

If you look at the fixture we got the tougher games off 6 day breaks. The only saving grace is that 4/5 of them are at home.

This is true but there is no repeat this year of last year's first two months. The 6-dayers are more manageable at home. Overall our draw is significantly better this year.

De Boer or Suban.
Drop suban I rather mdb coming in as sub. But gee after not being a fan at all last night suban was absolutely fantastic and given it was a big game it adds a lot of weight to his continued inclusion. I'm not sure who to leave out but I'm not sure any bad choices.

Re tabs the only thing I don't like is his appetite for contest. Seems to not really get angry or anything. But looking at a guy like Mundy it's perhaps top superficial a judgment.
