Always the new posters (that's a joke)

Yeah, of course that happens. Mobbs tells me I'm wrong all the time. But I can only comment on what I observe. There are certainly some capable newer posters but, by and large, the group I look to happen to be more experienced. I don't look to them because they're experienced, I look to them because they understand the board and have themselves contributed to its success.
Saying someone can "suffer from nostagia" is like saying someone can "suffer from winning the lottery". Nostalgia is pooh-poohed only by those too new to afford it.

Have you seen the number of people who complain that winning the lottery ruined their lives?

It is a bigger issue than the EKA Curse

You're overthinking this. 20 posters in a match thread won't be much different from 20 posters trawling media week in, week out.

20+ posters that contribute towards media week in, week out don''t have a common goal. 20+ posters that play together as an "Exhibition" team do.

Just because you repeatedly say that it won't have an impact on how the Beez voters will vote at the end of a season, it's a glaring problem in my opinion that needs to be genuinely discussed and analysed rather than be discredited.

My point though is that you have effectively contributed in multiple threads in the same week

In one week--- I can guarantee you that I won't be as this highly engaged in multiple threads every week of the season, nor do I suspect many of the prolific posters in the SFA can or would be interested in doing. Prolific posters should be focusing on improving & contributing towards their clubs, not off posting in some exhibition match every week.

It'll kill the mood in some match threads because some posters will be team mates one week and opposition the next.

No, I said have seen how things work behind the scenes as well as publicly. I believe that this idea will work based on what I have observed. As far as communication goes, what don't you understand? My proposal was for the establishment of a 14th team consisting of existing Sweet FA posters to play an exhibition match against the team that would otherwise have the bye. Anyone who wants to be a part of this venture would be invited to take part. If there were more than 20 posters wanting to take part, this team would rotate each week. They would be involved in 15 games throughout the season and posters that are a part of this team would also post in their club's match thread each week. Each of these points is in the OP.

But you've added nothing new to the discussion since the OP, you've just repeated the same ideas without elaborating on them or demonstrating how it'll actually work. If you actually addressed my concerns the first time I asked rather than mocking it by saying "I'll take this as a serious question...." you would have saved both of us plenty of time today.

Instead you refused to acknowledge who would be willing to put the time & effort into captaining an "exhibition" side and arranging the prolific interested posters.

The league has changed since then. We've seen a move away from high levels of creativity and well-thought out ideas towards an increase in high-volume, low-effort nonsense. When considering the direction of this board, do we want to continue down that path or do we want to encourage effort and creativity again? For me, I'm taking that second path every day of the week.

If the league isn't shaped in the way you like it at the moment, what are you doing to change it?

What you consider "high-volume, low-effort nonsense" has it's time & place.

Would I want to play in a team that does it every week? Hell no. But the high-volume weeks have been some of the most enjoyable I've had in the SFA. The Bears this week is having an absolute blast, our PM has never been as active and everyone is having fun because it's fun and there's discussion behind the 'spam' posts.

But I'd take high-volume spam over the boring RL discussions than some teams have fallen into. I don't care about playing "20 Questions" or Top 10 lists-- they can F*** off too the club room. Music nights/contests can do the same. Dull beer/food chat can go to club PM's. Too much of what is discussed by all teams at the moment isn't in the fantasy world of SFA.

I feel the spam weeks are better at the 'fantasy' side because they are often targeted at getting reactions from the opposition.

But that doesn't mean I'll blindly support someone just because you think I should. I'll think about ideas presented, I'll question, I'll discuss and if I think someone is going to add value I'll help them out, as I and many others before me have done.

Aren't you wanting us to blindly support you?

I've questioned your suggestion and tried to add a discussion with you about it, but you've kept shutting me down because I haven't been in the SFA for 7 years or "get" what you think the SFA is.

What you think "getting the SFA" means might be different than mine, but it doesn't mean I don't understand the league. If you were some guru of understanding the SFA you've be contributing more on the growth of the board by recruiting more successful rookies to your club.

Actually, I am not a ranga

My mother was … it skipped a generation & I have red-headed twins

Don't tell MWPP. The Bears may recruit you thinking you're Weasley.

I keep getting told what a sh*t poster I am all the time ... one thing we all agree on is that the quality of posting is subjective

Is it possible that players who have been around for 5, 10 or 20 seasons suffer from nostalgia? - "Back in my day, ..........."

If posting quality has deteriorated drastically, whose fault is it? The Veterans, the Newbies or Both???
