Honestly just want to make finals at the moment.

I just turned 18 (acc says I'm 23), have followed Melbourne my whole life but the first games i remember watching are from 2008 and I genuinely don't have a living memory of being in the finals

One day that premiership will come, and I'll be the happiest person in the world. One day
Can I ask why you chose to support the Dees?

Not having a go at all, just genuinely curious as to what the appeal was/is to start supporting Melbourne circa 2008. Family ties?

I feel like the dees are building a list that should have the talent and depth to win a premiership in the next 5 years, but the mental side is so far from premiership material I fear I’ll never see it.

I’d cry from happiness for a week if we did.
They remind me of GWS in that they have a lot of high end talent but are too full of themselves. They may grow out of it but GWS haven’t so who knows

I for one am happy with the past two premiers. Certainly gives us long suffering supporters hope.

I've been lucky enough to be there a few times over the last ten years for the last dance. What i would give to see us win one.

Obviously i hope we are the next to break the drought but would be happy for the dees too.

Watching where the tiers came from last year should give hope to about 14 clubs.

The Saints will never win a flag in my lifetime.

I've given up.

Hope my friends at the Demons can have more luck but you guys seem rooted too
I haven't entirely given up hope. But I think we need to land a few in the next couple of drafts. We are where North were at 5-6 years ago - competitive in the short term. It was a mistake not to trade stars after our last grand final. We should have.

I think he means he has supported the dees for 20 odd years but only really remembers the last 10

Does the success of Dogs and Tigers offer hope for Saints and Melbourne fans?
Ah yes, it is always which is the next or best or worst history that can inspire clubs to wrk hard for next year.
these things are always possible. Of course there is Freo, or the giants, the suns... and then well we are going to be kept busy
getting all these 'poor' clubs a shot at the big prize.

According to people on BF the AFL is rigged towards vic teams so I expect a premiership in the next 5 years.....
Not unless they get there. If Vic teams get into a grand final then its rigged. They still have to get there. Bullies got to throw it/decisions favored them (last year), and Richmond got to field their captain this year. I know if we make it next year, or the Dees do, that it is better for the AFL. But, we will have to earn it. If it makes money then it makes sense. AFL motto. Understand we are playing a flawed game, and understand there is A LOT of money involved. Once you understand that you will see things clearly. Good luck.

I know. I just can't see us going on the march to a flag in 2018 having not played a final since Neitz was captain.
just takes a bit of self belief. Remember how Hardwick was laughed at for saying the list was the best he had in 2016, 90% of whom played today.

You're not necessarily as far off as you might think, slight bit of luck here or there and some good solid plans in the box. Sky's the limit

All good yeah just Family ties, my Old Man's a die hard supporter so he raised me as a Melbourne supporter and noe the clubs a part of me, he often apologises for it hahahaha

You'd have to be an insane kid to choose the demons at that time

I think he took me to a few games in 2005/6 but the first full season I remember was 2008.
