the next year the saints make it will be the first year they play the grand final interstate. and it'll be in perth and we'll get smacked. and nick reiwoldt's grandson will cheer up his young team and say 'boys at least you made it, in my entire career we never even won a prelim.'

I remember the 2000 GF being 15 at the time. I remember randomly wearing this zip up hoodie throughout the year, and every time I wore it the dees won. Busted it out for GF day, and I tried every zipper position to no avail :'(
Farrrout this just making me sad:'(:'( we just happened to have peaked at the same time as one of the greatest teams ever (Essendon 2000), such a Melbourne thing to do.

And reading the St Kilda supporters posts too:oops:

I know. I just can't see us going on the march to a flag in 2018 having not played a final since Neitz was captain.
Until a few weeks ago, the Demons had won a final more recently than the tigers had.

It's a bloody close competition. If we can save our best for September we'll be close.

All good yeah just Family ties, my Old Man's a die hard supporter so he raised me as a Melbourne supporter and noe the clubs a part of me, he often apologises for it hahahaha

You'd have to be an insane kid to choose the demons at that time

I think he took me to a few games in 2005/6 but the first full season I remember was 2008.
:thumbsu:

I became tied to the Pies around 1997, mainly just because they're who my parents followed, in the midst of a pretty dark, uninspiring period for the club.

Growing up in Adelaide, Modra was god and Andrew Jarman a magician, but what really got me into footy was watching Richmond on tele circa 1995-1996 - their exciting finals charge in '95, and Richo and Mark Merenda in '96. Would have been a pretty different path as a supporter (and a more meaningful day today) if I'd have been more of an independent thinker as a kid :D

Melbourne will never challenge for a flag whilst the mental demons against lesser sides remain intact.

We blew our chances in 09/10, has to be one of the best teams ever on paper to not win a flag.

Goddard
Riewoldt
Dal Santo
Montagna
Hayes
Fisher
Milne

etc.. :'(
Absolutely criminal that Saints of 09/10 did not win a flag. Then I remember who was the coach and my question of 'why?' is answered.

That team was something special!

I'm hopefully going to live another five or six decades, I'm hopeful but not certain of St kilda winning one during that time frame.

Our luck just has to turn at some stage.

I'd love to break our drought but I prefer it if we did it the hard way rather than being gifted a flag like the Bulldogs and Richmond were by biased umpires.

The AFL has become as much of a joke as WWE with it's scripting results.

and there you go.. just indecisive and disinterested and no wonder you haven't gone further than a grand final
loss..

pull your socks up and hike your shorts to a reasonable level and look the coach in the eye and
tell him to put you to the defensive position and let others rove around the attack area and
you will learn to hustle and burn and not leave your supporters in no delusion that you want to
win the granny..

it aint hard, plenty of clubs have done it and it is only from now you will see this..

Don't worry if any one of essendon, st kilda or Melbourne make the finals next year they'll get a free ride to the premiership.
