That we where better than the swans. When we played them in round 4 most of the talk from regular posters was that we where a superior side and would improve more than them over the year. I believe we learnt that are a couple of years advanced body wise. They just seem to play together.

better or not one thing that is better about them is their game style.... it holds up in finals... ours unfortunately needs lots of tweaking...

We have struggled against the Swans because we let them dictate the way the game is played, which is what good sides do.

But, we beat Collingwood and they are a better side than us. You can be better than someone on the day and not be a better team. Sadly, we weren't on that day. We tried to play Docklands footy in the wet, was never going to work.

We really gotta improve defensively and I don't just mean back six but around the whole ground. Lock it in our forward 50 better than we have been

We need a physically mature midfield.

Everything else will fall in to place when that occurs.

im not too concerned about our back 6 to be honest... the amount of points that gets conceded gets blamed on them but they are all very capable players....

its hard to imagine how our game plan can also incorporate a defensive game when we run in waves going forward.... leaving everyone exposed.....if it wasn't for Thompson stopping everything this year we would have not won as many games.....

This is sheer hyperbole DNEOOms. I think you will find that "most" of the talk was about us being competitive, and not-far-off. Maybe even equal. Not many serious posters thought us superior.

Swans play contested footy and in spite of their G record, play anywhere.

We are a young side playing Dome footy. Our tackling and contested stuff dropped off this year.

Swans 110 average games for the GF. North was 77 last game.

Take Boomer out in Rd1 next year and we will field a side with average of about 63.

We broke a few hoodoos this year starting with Geelong, Collingwood and St Kilda. I hope we break our next hoodoos in Hawks, West Coast and Sydney. If we do, look out.
Don't want to be negative, but it has to be noted that we beat Collingwood and St Kilda hoodoos under different coaches, while Ross Lyon hoodoo continued under different colors.

Our tackling pressure/defensive pressure is not in the same league as the grand finalists.

Interesting to see Hawthorn's defensive structures wilt in the prelim and GF, chinks in the armour of a very good side.

Spot on... broke down both times... and for what its worth i personally think the umpires kept them in both games....
