Positives:

- Yarran. Absolute silk. So composed and his skills are insane.

- Garlett. Freak. Speed and uncanny goal sense.

- Judd. Battled manfully around the stoppage as always.

- Jamison. Great first game back. Only conceded the one goal all game against Cloke (and it was a very assy goal at that)

- Curnow. What a pickup! Fantastic grunt work.

Negatives:

- Hampson. Can't mark to save himslf. Need Kreuzer back ASAP.

- Betts. Putrid performance. Worst on by a nautical mile.

- Murphy and Gibbs....got nowhere near enough of the ball. Especially Murphy as he wasn't checking a player like Gibbs.

- Watson. The kid just isn't ready yet...it's unfair to play him on big bustling forwards like Cloke and Dawes (no matter how useful his kicking skill are).

Changes for next week:

IN: Bower, Henderson
OUT: Watson, Betts

Watson in your negatives? I would have Carrazo and JR in there before Watson, the kid was good tonight considering the ball was down there a lot, I think he held his own and showed some class.

Yeah, Carrots and JR for mine too.

I want the old (new?) Russell back :( I'm sure he'll be fine but it's been a worry so far.

JR had a dirty night, but I'd rather him start dirty and build some touch as the season wears on.

I am not sure if we can afford to carry Hammer for another week he is diabolical. (Will prob get carded for saying this)

This is going to sound harsh. It is not reactionary either in terms of not basing this solely on tonights game.

I do not want to see Hampson in this team again.

-Has no footy smarts whatsoever.
-Doesn't know where to position himself in marking contests rendering his massive height advantage futile.
-He cannot time his jumps.
-His hands are like concrete, no soft touch whatsoever when his hands hit the ball - even when he does take the mark, how often are they two grab marks?
-He is redundant once the ball hits the deck. Is $hit below his knees.
-He handballs to players feet who stand 2m away from him.
-He misses set shots from 20m straight in front - HAS DONE EXACTLY THIS IN ALL 3 GAMES THIS YEAR.
-No intensity in his game whatsoever.
-Is nowhere near physical enough for his size.

Couldn't give a rats a$$ if he can run a 20 metre sprint in sub 3 seconds or how high his vertical leap is.

This is Australian Rules Football FFS, not Athletics.
He should have stuck to soccer.

And to think Port Adelaide offered us a first rounder a couple of years back for him.

Matty Kreuzer can't come back quickly enough. Until he does, play Irish instead if he's fit. At least you know Irish will give you his all and show some passion however rough he is around the edges (and I'm by no means an Irish fan).

Harsh but true. Red card me if you wish.

I thought his endeavour was fantastic. But he simply isn't up to AFL standard yet defensively.

He's a big boy, and those types take time. He needs to get some confidence and adjust to the bigger bodies in the Ants.

He'll come good though.

Irish has been out injured. Casboult is someone who the club is training up to be a true forward/ruck option is still about 12 months away from playing a significant part in the clubs push.

As Irish is still on the comeback from injury, I would be expecting him to be back in a couple of weeks after a couple of runs in the ants for him to start getting some match fitness back.

Watson offers more defensive pressure than Thornton. White and Laidler are just as out of their depth against 'gorilla' opponents.

Waite and Henderson are required forward. Austin and o'hAilpin are the only other options on our list but sadly, in purgatory.

On that basis, Watson keeps his spot in the team as a 3rd tall defender. He'll develop better under the tutelage of Jamison and Bower than playing on some suburban mudheap.

Biggest negative was dropping Armfield. Would have been very useful against Collingwoods small forwards in Blair or Krakouer.

Other negatives - Carazzo's disposal and Hampson's poor decision making.

Pretty happy with the rest of the team's efforts.

What is going on here? Constructive criticism never gets carded, only abusive stuff and repetitive negative agendas. It's all in the approach folks.

Haha.
Yeah I know, just that Hampson and a couple of others seems untouchable around here. Wheres as Thornton and Carrazzo seem to be the whipping boys.

Oh and can I say that any Carlton supporters who stood and applauded during the pre game ceremonies for shame!!!!!!
I am not saying stand there and boo or anything like that just go to the bar read the record play with your phone use the loo because I promise you there supporters will not return the same courtesy to us if it should eventuate in the future.
That's a negative as well by the way.

So many players running under the ball. All the time we were out positioned; either being caught behind or too slow to react to the long ball over the time...

It was a shoot out in a sense as we always looked vulnerable everytime the ball went in our defence. Thought we were too slow to react and didn't try to play the game at our tempo. We can't match Collingwood's all out attack and really should have tried to keep it to a lower scoring affair.

-He cannot time his jumps.

This:thumbsu: There were 3-4 times tonight where Hammer jumped far too early- it gives him no chance at marking the ball, as he is left hanging in the air waiting for the ball.

I think Carlton can take lots of positives out of tonights game though. Jeffy Garlett is an absolute star!

Positives from 3 games:

We have found 6 players who are genuine improvers and make us a better team.

Mitch Robinson
Ed Curnow
Robbie Warnock
Jeff Garlett
Chris Yarran
Jeremy Laidler

Negatives:

Carazzo and Thornton must go immediately.
JR is Jeckyl and Hyde. 50% AA and 50% ******.
Hammer.....3 or 4 weeks to perform a miracle before Krueze comes back.
Duigan just is what he is. A 26yo SANFL player.
Walker. Gotta feeling his head is in GWS land.

True but the club wouldn't have swapped him for an LTI if they didn't intend to play him in the next 8 weeks. While Jacobs' defection leaves us in a bind, Levi playing with confidence could hardly do much worse than poor Hampson looked tonight.

Positives:
1. Judd - yes him again
2. Garlett & Yarran - great running, battled hard all night.
3. Robinson - our kamikaze pilot.
4. Watson - I don't think he's had a good game, but he will be an alright player for us.

Negatives:
1. Dropped the ball way too many times. We cannot hold on to the ball.
2. Waite, Carrazo, Walker, Thornton, Simpson - They only really make some effort when the ball or opponent is within a close proximity. Otherwise you won't see them chase a long way to get to the ball or chase down an opponent.
3. A lot of our players are ok, but they really haven't improved much. Seems like a lot of our guys have peaked - this includes players like Murphy and Gibbs.
4. Waite is just a really dumb footballer nowadays.
5. Duigan - he's had a dirty night.
6. Betts - He is the Leon Davis of our team, the contrast between his good games and bad games are huge.

Watson in your negatives? I would have Carrazo and JR in there before Watson, the kid was good tonight considering the ball was down there a lot, I think he held his own and showed some class.
HA HA so true Watson tried Russell and Carrazoo did some poor things at times that hurt us.Watson did great for a second gamer only got a couple kicked on.Carlton should just blood him for the rest of the year and get games into him.The games will be valuable to us he won't get a bag kicked on him.

I really like too see this guy make it would be a dead set weapon if he could mark regular and kick straight.

Stuff the ants Judd and the midfield need a back 6 settle in 2 years not 5 years. We need to find the players now and get them near 40 games in 2 years or we won't get that flag.

I would say as a sub would have been more useful then Collins could float in the forward line or near the middle or back. I think it was a poor decision bringing someone new 3/4 in the game that hasn't played a game for Carlton before.

I have to say at this point of the year i agree with all those points not with the ****** mark.JR struggling a little hopefully it's only a small slump.Duigan isn't that bad but isn't that good also and if the club think his a future star we in trouble seriously same as White.Their is a reason why players if they don't get chosen in the draft before 24. They only have a short window and need to be elite.
