Yawn. Can we get back to serious discussion.

LOL are you serious. LOL. You really think Elano is a better player then Anderson.

BWAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA. Deluded much. HAHAHHAHA

Come on Moomba where's your humour?

Serious discussion, Anderson has had a huge impact more than anyone here would have thought, but its still only half way through his first season, a lot of young players get second year blues when in a new country so lets just wait and see. I am not as ready to write Scholes' obituary as some others around here that's for sure.

I'm fairly convinced you don't actually watch football.

At this moment in time, I don't think there's much doubt that Elano is better than Anderson. Elano was the probably second behind Fabregas for player of the season before his injury.

I lost it on one of the hundred "lets pick a player and see who can wank over him the most" threads that seem to be the most common feature of this board lately.

I think he's doing exactly what I would expect someone of his reputation and pricetag to do. You don't become a Brazilian international at his age without having a lot of raw natural ability, and it's clear that he has that. But from what I have seen there is a lot of development left for him to do, and he will face much harder challenges than the ones he faced today, or in any of his games for United so far.

Im fairly convinced your brain is actually non existant. Who cares what Elano has done this season. Fact is for Elano its all downhill from here . Hes IIRC 27 and at the peak of his career. Ever since his brilliant first month hes been declining and being outshone by the better player in Petrov. Anderson is 18 and coming off a serious injury and his performances over the past 4 games have been mucn better then the injury prone Elanos. If you offered Elano for Anderson to Sir Alex he would spit on your face for suich a idiotic suggestion

Cant believe you would even compare. I look forward to your Bianchi is better then Tevez thread.

As a United fan, for me the bonus of Anderson coming on so quickly due to Scholes injury means that come the New Year Uniteds bench will be far more powerfull than it was at this stage last year (injuries prevailing of course).
I recall a game against Chel$ea last year when they brought on Joe Cole and Robben and all we could muster was Fletcher and Oshea. I was never really confident that last years squad could pull of the title but they did.....This year I'm very confident of more silverware heading to Old Trafford even at this early stage as the squad is better than last. I do hope Fergie plunges for a striker as my faith in Saha has gone...

Embers is spot on here. He must be given the highest credit as he has come back from his broken leg stronger. Only a matter of time before he starts banging em in.

You've just proven that you don't watch football, or City games at least. Since his first month (which was very good) Elano has really come into his own. 5 goals in 10 matches, and he has pretty much run the majority of matches he's played in despite being targetd for heavy man marking. It has been since that first month that the fans and the press have really found out that he has the capability to be something very good for the club. Our results and performances since his injury have just proven that to me. And Petrov, despite doing some very good things just hasn't compared.

Ha ha, so now 4 games is the period by which you judge the quality of a player.

Guess what, Elano hasn't played in our last four games and if one injury makes him injury prone I'd hate to see what you think about some of the duds West Ham have bought.

In the premier league Elano is the better performed footballer to date, in international football it is Elano.

And age has no bearing on how someone is performing right now. Anderson may well end up the better footballer, but right now he isn't. But just so you know Elano is 26, just coming up to the age most consider is the peak years for a footballer.

Cant believe you would even compare. I look forward to your Bianchi is better then Tevez thread.

Theres the pot calling the kettle black if I've ever seen it. But the fact you feel so strongly about it just backs up my view that Elano compares favourably.

There there, I will go get you some nice crayons.

5 goals in 10 games playing as a striker in a team that scores alot of goals isnt ass reaming stuff really.

Put up a poll and we will see which is the better player. Im pretty confident most would vote Anderson. Anderson is 18, Elano is 26. Something you seem to be struggling to comprehend

The very fact that you can't make an argument without those sort of insults tells me everything I need to know about the strength of your argument.

He is a midfielder and is our main playmaker. He has more assists than goals, but still has 1 in 3 of the goals the club has scored in his last 10 games.

How does the fact that Anderson is 18 (19 actually) and Elano 26 make any difference to who is the better player. If you were arguing that Anderson had more potential or might become the better player then ages might be relevant. But if you are asking who is the better footballer right now then it is not.

And put up a poll by all means, I suspect it will be like the polls that had Beckham as MOM in each of Englands matches of Japorea. Make it a public poll, because I can assure you that the names of those voting for and against will be more relevant than the numbers.

Elano > Anderson (not to say Anderson wasn't sensational last night)

Theres a reason Anderson cost 18 million and is playing for Manchester United and Elano cost 6 and is playing for Man City.

Im arguing that when the careers have ended people will be saying Anderson was one of the best. Such comments wont be attributed to one season wonders like Elano

Striker?

Man City play a 4-5-1. To call him a midfielder is a bit wrong. Hes always in and around the box doing what he likes. Much more of a striker then a midfielder because midfielders actually lay tackles and win the ball themselves rather then receiving it on a platter all day

I find it very hard to argue with someone that really doesn't understand (or doesn't want to understand) the subject matter. Try and watch Elano play one time. He does a lot of work in defence, it's one of the reasons Dunga has referred to him as the future of Brazilian football. We don't play a hard and fast 4-5-1. We tend to have one up front, and any of 3 midfielders (Elano,Petrov and Ireland) getting forward to link up with the man upfront.

Elano, typically will be the man in the middle of the park feeding the ball to the forward or winger, his six assists for the season attest to that.

Anderson has been quite superb given his age and return from injury, highlighted by the fact we have not really missed Scholes at all, but Elano is probably the signing of the season thus far. Why is there a need to make such silly comparisons? I have my opinion of how good the former could potentially be but he isn't there yet, though it's been exciting to watch his growth regardless.

Both are absolute quality and could make an outstanding national team partnership in the centre of midfield. I'd like to see Anderson cut out the 'bratty' nature of his personality/sportsmanship though.
