I was wondering what other supporters thought of this bloke..

I think i speak on behalf of many dog supporters when i say, when we heard his name and number called out we were slightly disapointed..especially considering Sellar was still available..

After reading up on Everitt i realise he has the potential to be a superstar!
He is 193 cm and is probably still growing. His downside is taht he is so skinny. If Everitt put on weight he could quite easily be groomed into a kpp - most likely a chb. In the meantime he is probably a tall ish half back flanker..

Has anyone seen him play or heard anything about the bloke to enlighten me??

Thanks

Surprised he went so early to be honest. Will be a good player though. has all the attributes to be a gun, just not the size but that will come.
Get him to spend 12 months in America and he will put those 20kgs on.
haha thats a good idea!:thumbsu:

i was dissapointed when i heard his name, i just stared at the screen in amazement, but after reading up on the kid it seems he has talent to burn just needs another 20kg. if he can put it on i have no doubt he will be a star, i just hope its not another josh thurgood story, they look the same build.:(

I have heard a bit about the younger Everitt but I don't think you will be thrilled about what I'm about to say. Last Sunday I was talking to a guy who does a bit of work at Everitt's TAC club - can't remember which one exactly..

Anyway, the young Everitt seems to have a bit of an attitude problem and doesn't like being told what to do. Bit of a loner and not much of a team player. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt but given who his older brother is I was rapt that the Hawks didn't recruit him. Time will tell, but I for one would be shocked if AE became a elite AFL player...

Can't belive you guys passed on Sellar in favour of Everitt...

Except that the genes are different.

A lot of supporters were supposedly also upset when we drafted Minson but not many are now.

Any rumour is just that. We don't have any recent history of recruiting blokes with poor attitude so it's Scotty Clayton's reputation against rumour. I think you know which I will believe 'till it's proved wrong, only time will tell.

Well, seeing as Everitt is now an ex-player of my club (Somerville) i must say that he will not dissapoint, yes he is a little on the light side but lets be honest how many of these kids in todays draft will be AFL ready for next season? He will develop and be a very very good player.

Dont know too much about this attitude problem though.

I was surprised he wasn't rated higher on BF from the very little I saw him play & the name. Should be a very exciting prospect.

i was fairly shocked as well, probably drafted him because of the name honestly

What a load of s***! He was picked by Scott Clayton, regarded by many as the best recruiter going around. I'm sure he wasn't "sucked in" because hislast name is Everett, Clayton is a pro and good at his job. I'd also be willing to bet Clayton has seen plenty more of these kids than the vast majority of posters on BF.

A very very very well said post :thumbsu:

The same is true of many football recruiting officers. I know that Greg Miller from Richmond is regarded highly and both he and Clayton would have done ALOT of homework before using their first pick in the best draft since the 2001. They would not waste those picks.

If Riewoldt and Everitt were picked so highly, they are obviously worth the pick. They will both be good players.

look, quite simple, if he can put on the kg's required to hold down mabey a chb then it would be a blessing. if not it would be a waste of a pick, but i have faith in scotty that he made the right decision.

Richmond apprently rated Everitt highly (although they rated Riewoldt higher so would be happy with their pick 13) and Sydney were considering him as well.

Who the hell knows in a few years time though - some posters on draft day were disappointed we picked Griffen over Roughead as well, but I don;t think many would begrudge Clayton now.

It's worth noting the rest of his picks were pretty much out of left field as well, O'Shea didn't even have stats available on the draft telecast.

What age group do you play in?

Everitt will be a great player, I've seen him play and he will go far in the AFL.

God have alook at him http://westernbulldogs.com.au/ he is a spitting image of his older brother (well minus the dreads)

Scott Clayton is a great recruiter overall, but the names of Cameron White, Tim Walsh, Tom Williams wouldnt inspire you with confidence in his ability to judge first round talls.

Cameron Wight is comming good. Played the last few games really well last year and looks set for a big year.

Tim Walsh has had a few major injuries including a broken leg and knee reco and is still really young.

Tom Williams has been injured nearly the whole time he has been on our list

Gets your facts right before you make a **************** out of yourself

Cameron Wight is comming good. Played the last few games really well last year and looks set for a big year.

Tim Walsh has had a few major injuries including a broken leg and knee reco and is still really young.

Tom Williams has been injured nearly the whole time he has been on our list

Of the 3 I think Walsh looks like a mistake. Even including injuries he's been a dissapointment. Wight made massive strides late last year and looks like he could be a good player, and its unfair to criticise Clayton for Williams because he's hardly been able to get out on the park because of injury. If Michael Voss started his career with the injuries Williams has had people woul dof said he was a mistake

Walsh was a blunder. These things happen, recruiting is not an exact science

I don't think this was a bad choice, even despite Sellar being available

Reasons
I think Reiwoldt Everitt Selwood and similiar others have a bit of an advantage in that they have access to close info over a long period about what it takes to succeed... (comment not just cause ... big bro... the jury is still out on that one!)

Dogs have the time to wait for development .. if all current list fit they do not need a ready made young 1st year player who might leave in 2 yrs to go home or elsewhere.... or demand big salary to keep. Already have young ruck options but it is touted that eventually he might become a tall KPP... perfect if his committment is right

You do not have to be a example of outstanding moral fibre or a particularly bright & social when a teenager to make it at AFL level, .....for some it is the reason they do succeed, being the only/best thing they can and want to do
