Andrejs Everitt

What a load of s***! He was picked by Scott Clayton, regarded by many as the best recruiter going around. I'm sure he wasn't "sucked in" because hislast name is Everett, Clayton is a pro and good at his job. I'd also be willing to bet Clayton has seen plenty more of these kids than the vast majority of posters on BF.

Well said mate. The recruiters spend countless hours on anylysing these blokes so they should have a pretty fair idea whos worth drafting.

Agree with that, although with a modifier, as I don't think the player Clayton wanted and expected to be available at their first round pick was available. I reckon they expected Ben Reid to be there and his absence has meant they've gone for another tall of similar stature.

Aside from that, all the names called out yesterday are unproven at AFL. Clayton's hit rate in this caper is high and it will be interesting to see how the names he called out yesterday with the Bullies later picks turn out - as a lot of them were seemingly overlooked in the mock drafts.

how does that work when roughead was already gone by the time the dogs had thier pick???
rephrase: posters were disappoitned we went for Griffen with Roughead unavailable (ie wanting us to draft tall)

Having seen Andrejs play on numerous occasions over the last year, i can say with complete confidence that the bulldogs have not wasted their pick. He will compliment their running style of game with his speed and agility whilst his ability to read the play is second to none in this draft.
Whilst he may not be AFL- ready at this point, i would say that he will end up being a very, very good aquisition for the bulldogs in the long-term.

I think i speak on behalf of many dog supporters when i say, when we heard his name and number called out we were slightly disapointed..especially considering Sellar was still available..

No, I don't think you speak on behalf of most bulldog supporters. I think you speak on behalf of the uninformed and/or the unintelligent.

After reading up on Everitt i realise he has the potential to be a superstar!

Didn't you say you were disappointed?

Has anyone seen him play or heard anything about the bloke to enlighten me??

Thanks

wouldn't it be best if you saw him play before you post your opinions?

Cameron Wight is comming good. Played the last few games really well last year and looks set for a big year.

Tim Walsh has had a few major injuries including a broken leg and knee reco and is still really young.

Tom Williams has been injured nearly the whole time he has been on our list

Gets your facts right before you make a **************** out of yourself
how is tom williams comming along?
nah for shore he waz pikked up coz of his name ip layed agenst him at skool levela nd he wasn tmuch chop and was hardly betta dan me and he has and attitude porblem and 1 day he made funo f me.

he aws drafted coz of his name jst liek Rob Tarrant!
im usually pretty good at reading msn typing but wtf is that?:p

Scott Clayton is a great recruiter overall, but the names of Cameron White, Tim Walsh, Tom Williams wouldnt inspire you with confidence in his ability to judge first round talls.
Cameron Wight was pick 49, not a first rounder, and he is developing very nicely.

Walsh has disappointed, but a broken leg, ACL reconstruction and fractured finger in 3 seasons hasn't helped his development. Ditto Williams with his foot/ankle problems ruining his 2 years with us to date.

Was just wondering, will Walsh and in particular Williams be ready for the NAB Cup next season or at least Round 1 of the regular season?

Im looking forward to seeing them play because Tom was pick 6 right after Buddy, and because you guys can really challenge for a flag IF you can get a decent number of talls on the ground from the get-go!

walsh did his knee at the start of last year so SHOULD be on track for nab cup and williams the last i heard was that he was up and running so to have these two players fit and firing heading into rd 1 will be a blessing.
i hope williams and walsh can both get through preseason unscaved.

Look Everitt was a surprise for most people. doesn't make it a wrong pick.

BUT you went a little against the grain, and I'm sure many people are waiting to see if you were right or not.

I should point out Scott Clayton's reputation was built in the last decade - it's hardly relevant now.

according to todays age article, everitt was the one we wanted.

Grain of salt.

Not saying he's a bad choice, but recruiters who say "We wanted to get someone really good, but unfortunately only average kids were left" don't have the confidence of the football department and board for very long.

if you read the article in the age it names the 5 players we picked and clayton is quoted as saying - before the draft - something like 'we are a 95% chance to get these 5 players'.

besides, its pretty obvious he was targeted specifically, given the number of 'highly rated' players we passed up - sellar, mcenzie, jetta, riewolt, hislop, proud, etc...

Great to hear from Clayton the alternative to Everitt at pick 11, was Krakouer who ended up at 39, a similar spot tipped for Everitt. Who would need high draft picks with this sort of ranking.

Yeah, we on traded pick 31 for Simon Garlick. Pick 31 was used on Simon Black. I wonder if time again, any club might take him top 10. Ranking means sh1te. Its what they deliver, sure you have a higher chance the higher they go, but its up to the player not the position taken. Leave it 2 to 3 years and revisit it then.

Yeah, it's interesting really. I wonder if Everitt would've lasted til our 2nd round pick, had we traded our first rounder during trade week and not our 2nd rounder.

I guess we'd never know.

I was wondering what other supporters thought of this bloke..

He is 193 cm and is probably still growing. His downside is taht he is so skinny. If Everitt put on weight he could quite easily be groomed into a kpp - most likely a chb. In the meantime he is probably a tall ish half back flanker..

Has anyone seen him play or heard anything about the bloke to enlighten me??

I played ruck against Everitt in U/16 North Ballarat Rebels Vs Dandenong Stingrays and toweled him up. He had a shocking attitude towards his teammates and coaches, abusing them regularly. He has obviously matured and kicked on since then but that was only last year. He was very ordinary on the day and did not man up on me at all. Good luck to him though as he'll always be living in his brothers shadow. His vertical leap is outstanding though.
