I don't think that should be our starting midfield.

I would like a rotation of Kerr, Masten, Shuey, Scooter and Ebert with Stevens and Gaff working their way in evemtually. The reality is you can throw in at least Priddis, and probably A.Selwood, along with occasional stints of Naita as a ruck rover.

Rnd 1, rest assured it will be kerr, selwood and priddis. Won't get us too far either.

Selwood wasn't that bad in the middle. Can't remember what game but he was sharking the taps very well. Obviously longer term he's not the answer but wait for a young gun to actually surpass him before moving him.

I personally want Kerr, Shuey, Lecras to be our starting set up. Should rival the Judd, Kerr, Cousins combo pretty well.

How does a younger mid go past him if they don't get a crack?

We have so many young developing mids I can't see how we can afford to play A.Selwood through the middle.

Kerr, Priddis with S.Selwood/Ebert/Masten/Shuey rotating.

Because Shuey is the only one of those 4 capable of playing forward I would probably primarily play him up forward, certainly for the first half of the year until his body can withstand the rigors of AFL.

On top of those 4 we still have Stevens, Swift, Gaff who can also play through there so the last thing we need is A.Selwood blocking the young talent we have drafted.

They would get a crack every game. Selwood doesn't play midfield every minute, he goes forward and back and gets benched. The mids are rotated so when Gaff or Swift start having a greater impact, Selwood's time is up. The coaches also test players in different positions all the time throughout games.

The trouble with A Selwood and to a slightly lesser degree, Priddis, is that they are both negative midfielders. If they do happen to get the ball from the ruck tap, they are usually too slow to get it out to a runner and it gets held in the middle. If they could both handball a bit quicker and more accurately we may have a chance of winning the ball clearly from the bounces and throw ups.

Adam Selwood was as bad as Ebert re: his disposal this year, at least Ebert has youth and inexperience as an excuse.

If Adam Selwood plays through the midfield this year we are an absolute joke.

The only reason adam selwood should be playing in the midfield is as a hard tagger. As a stopper he is one of the best in the business. As an offensive midfielder though his disgusting footskills just don't cut it and i really dont want him there.

Yeah totally agree. If he is going to be in the guts (and we all know with Woosha around this is going to happen), get him doing something that is going to be the most use to the team. His ability to negate prime movers through the midfield is actually pretty impressive probably highlighted most in the game against Geelong at Subi. He just isn't an A grade midfielder

I think Scooter can do that job now, and he is better offensively when he gets the ball.

Adam can either tag the dangerous high half forwards i.e. Didak, O'keefe etc or play as a defensive forward where I think he would be best suited on the likes of Hodge, Gilbee, Goddard, Chapman etc.

He is just too slow when playing alongside Priddis in the middle and his skills are horrible.

I agree. Although i'd like scooter to be developed into an attacking midfielder. If you notice my best 22 on another thread i actually have adam selwood playing in the forward line.

A Big call - Top 8 finish and finishing above the dockers.

By the end of the year we will see a team Filled with - Stevens, Smith, Shuey, Gaff, Masten, Scotter, Weedon, Jones, darling, Lycett, Natanui and swift.
