Six years is a sweet deal.
Yeah, and that's not all apparently.

Natanui just lagged the CEO for salary cap rorting:

"The club is pretty good, they always look after players. The biggest thing they tell us is it's not only about your playing career but post-footy as well. "'Nizzy' (CEO Trevor Nisbett) is a pretty loyal guy and will look after you post your career as well, which he tells a lot of players. "If you stick around you might get a little bit less money than what you could probably get elsewhere, but in the longer journey you'll get looked after by the footy club.

That's an extreme response to a nothing comment.
You reckon?

Natanui has just stated that the West Coast CEO offers post career inducements to players who sign on for modified playing contracts.

I understand that you would want to throw a bucket of water over it, but in the real world, that my friend is a certified BOMBSHELL!

I think Nic Nat is talking more about the Seven Network WA holiday show gig he will have lined up for him post footy career.

Just because every time I have been to the Eagles HQ I have seen former players milling around it doesn't mean they are on token office positions paying $100,000 a year to supplement their real work income.

Don't read too much into Nic's comments.

Is it? More of a bombshell if it’s during the contract.

If anything, afl wants clubs to help players post retirement otherwise they would have a bigger issue on their hands.

Play on!!!

So no other club looks after its players post retirement?

Look at Judd. There are dozens of examples like that.

So what if a club assists with player careers post retirement. Coaching or football development roles.

It all comes down to rewarding loyalty and good character but you do also require the right skill sets.

Off field spending cap is in place as well to keep an eye on anything dodgy.

yup, nothing changes during a draft period
because we went into a draft pretending to draft delludio as a rouse to trade caddy
seriously people, managers sometimes do lie, players change their mind, and not everyone is honourable

but yes i am the guy who saud danger was coming to geelong despite the nutter chicken brigade, yes i was the one who said hendo was coming, yes i was the one who said ablett was coming, yes i said smith was coming
and the list goes on

and yes things change, and things dont work out as people intend them to
and yes west coke won assisted flags
You mean like Geelong. Just different substances.

No it isn't.

A bombshell doesn't originate from the rage of a BigFooty poster.

No mention of money or assets, just that you’ll get looked after.

Maybe Nizzy will offer to look after Nic Nats kids or take his dog for a walk?

That is flat out tampering. If a club or any of its representatives are offering a player any type of incentive it must be reported and included in the salary cap. That’s just 101 how it’s supposed to work.

Our former genius CEO Trigg took it upon himself to get creative with Kurt Tippett and we got 50% of the draft sanctions that we would have got had we put all our players on performance enhancing drugs.

The Eagles are doing this systematically and the AFL are just going to look the other way?

Very vague ...job as a ass coach ...contacts in the mining industry , medical issues ... it would be good to get a clarification. Lots of ex players are ass coaches .... but is there are blurring of the lines... probably.

We offered Sam Mitchell a coaching job after retirement to get him playing for us? Is that tampering? Where do u draw the line?

Offering assistance in getting work post footy isn’t bad. Players association wouldn’t support a rule that clubs can’t do that. I am sure Adelaide does that too. Otherwise even more players would leave ur club!

Draft tampering isn’t comparable, although I do agree u guys got screwed. If u were a melb club and trigg was in the afl boys club, would have been a lot less.

Ahh no mate.

You're actually not supposed to do that as part of a contract negotiation.
When is it part of a contract negotiation and when is it simply doing the right thing providing meaningful support and or empoyment post retirement?

Nicoski is still employed by the club six plus years post retirement. So is Brad Smith. So is Petrie, Butler, Mitchell.

Every club employs ex players if they have something to offer.

As long as its not dirrectly linked to current contract negotiations all is fine. Nic was makinf a general statement that the club looks after players post retirement as opposed to washing their hands and cutting players loose.

You need to take off the tin foil hat.

Anyway, 6 x $700K(?) won't be trumped by a much greater offer, so it's all about whether Gaff wants to come back east now.
Would think Carlton, Norths and STK would all be happy to pay that and more. Hawks, Dees and Geelong would promise more success. After last night is WCE really a premiership chance? Doubt this is over yet.

Wce is not a flag threat hence money is the biggest factor. Our flag is in 2020 and beyond with the likes of ldu and thomas dominate the middle. Gaff is 26 in 2019 his best bet is with us as we have a privon track record in recent years of taking new trade recruits to the next level. Hawthorn wants lynch no cap space thereafter after. Carlton and st kilda r at least 3 years from being competitive. Most other teams have no space in cap.

The concept of SC is a flawed equality mechanism anyway.. based on the idea that players will always get paid proportional to their talent and so talent is spread equally.. and we all know thats not the case... one might make the argument that when players accept less to play for top end sides.. that is a way exceed the caps intent. Local footy has point system to try to simulate equality.
