Gaff has said he is open to signing before the end of season, I hope he cuts a deal and stays.
What we are seeing is a whole lot of noise generated by an hysterical media(and readership) guessing and saying ridiculous shit to keep themselves relevant.

The reality is that very rarely do elite players actually leave a club whilst in their prime - think back on the trades of A graders that were supposed to happen over the last few seasons and how many actually happened. I'm sure all of the mind numbing speculation has assisted in fattening up potential offers, though!

He would be mad to leave. Find it very hard to believe he's going anywhere based on history and common sense.

99% of those involve VIC players already in their home state. Completely different scenario for the interstates and there’s been many that have left over the last few years. Look at Brisbane, GC, GWS and Adelaide

GC, GWS?(And to a lesser extent Bris). When you take 30+ 18-25yr olds and transplant them from their home state and into a start up club in a non-footy playing heartland with limited infrastructure in place what do you expect?

The fact is, for all of the noise made in the media about player movements/contract negotiations every single year, very very few established A graders(the subject of my post) actually up roots and leave. Yes, it does happen, but it's rare.

TL;DR? The footy media does not get a lot right.

Not saying it's true but have heard that Gaff's Manager has recommended he hold off until after the Brownlow as it appears Gaff is a "smokey" and should he win it his Manager has stated it will increase his market value. ???

This holding off stuff will come back and bite a player one day. Holds off for a better offer, gets injured and their value falls away.

Unless we are seriously low balling Gaff and / or he has a god father mega offer from a decent side tempting him why would he hold off?

If it’s a low ball offer we deserve to loose him and a mega deal we have until free agency window to either match or get close to the deal

What a ridiculous rumor. Winning a Brownlow will increase the marketability of his personal brand and would open up more individual sponsorship opportunities for sure. Will winning a medal be a logical reason to make him play any better next year? Absolutely not.

I think this actually had a direct impact on Rory Sloane, I think when he got injured the Victorian clubs dropped their price on him

Whats getting a bigger contract got to do with playing better next year,or the next 5 years for that matter.
Winning a brownlow i think would increase his value.doesnt means hes going to play any better tho, probably the opposite
