smooth operator. outstanding all year, just not as good as enright so judged harshly. i would love him to pass it to me, lace out and perfect weight.
So would his team mates; unfortunately he has been butchering it all year.

That said, he kicked a lot better on Friday.

Very poor today. I have nothing against Mackie as a person, but if selection is purely on performance not merit, then he should be one of the 3 dropped when Scarlett, Ottens and Corey return.
I'd agree that he's out. With a lot of players, when they aren't playing well at least you can find some reason why they are in the team. With Hawkins for instance, there was a good argument to keep playing him to develop him (plus he was doing stuff off the ball which made the jobs of the other forwards easier). With Blake, even when he has a poor game, he still provides a contest in the ruck. On the other hand, it's hard to find a positive with Mackie this year - his disposal has been poor, his decisionmaking has been poor, he hasn't been great above his head or below his feet, he hasn't been working as hard as he should, and his physical pressure is limited. He showed some limited signs last week but I thought today he was terrible.

I thought Mackie was running into some form with his last 3 or 4 games being ok in my opinion. Today was awful (edit). Numerous pathetic spoiling/contested displays. Try harder Andrew!

Andrew Mackie is a flawed genius, we've just got to accept it and move on.

I've long been a critic of his so don't think i'm suggesting performances like yesterdays are acceptable, but i think as a supporter group we need to acknowledge his flaws and realise it's simply the nature of the beast.

The coaches realised that a long while ago and actively chose to embrace his status rather than continue making a futile attempt to change him and whilst they'll let him know yesterday wasn't up to standard, they will see the bigger picture and move on pretty quickly.

Well that's one version.

I heard that Doug Jekyll played for Fitzroy in 1933. He was hopeless so the club got rid of him. He went away, and changed his name to Bert Hyde so his reputation didn't follow him. He worked on his game and was picked up by Footscray in 1934. He went on to be third in the B&F. Hence he was both Doug Jekyll and Bert Hyde.

Mackie's form this season has been Doug Jekyll, rather than Bert Hyde. We all think he's got the talent, but talent only takes you so far. If this was round 16 he'd probably find himself in the ressies.
