Just thought I would go and find as much info on him so that we have an indication on what he could do next year for us:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AFL Phantom Draft:
5. WEST COAST - ANDREW McDOUGALL
(PERTH) 29/6/83, 196cm, 86kg
McDougall is touted as the hottest draft prospect to come out of Western Australia this year. Possessing a good leap, he is very strong overhead and is one of the most promising young ruckman in the country. He had a fine year, which included the Barassi Medal for the best and fairest player in the International Rules Series. His mobility is a feature of his game and he has even been mentioned as a possible No.1 Draft Choice, but is more than likely to be taken in the Top 5. Is likely to stay in Western Australia with West Coast having the No.5 pick.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2000 National Draft:
Pick No. 5 Registration ID 5578
West Coast Eagles - ANDREW MCDOUGALL from PERTH
Comments:
A calf injury has interrupted his year after an exciting start when he won the Barassi Medal for the best & fairest player in the International Rules Series v. Ireland in April. Strong overhead, a good kick for goal & very mobile. Debuted for Perth at senior level this year under Gary Armstrong.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AFL player profile:
The Eagles' first choice (No. 5 overall) at the 2000 AFL National Draft. A tall, strong youngster from Perth in the Westar Rules competition, he attracted plenty of interest as the winner of the Barassi Medal in the International Rules Series against Ireland last year. Did well at the AFL Draft Camp, proving himself a genuine athletic type and has fine kicking and marking skills. Doesn't turn 18 until well into the season and may be brought along slowly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Better turn out to be true. He was good at school level, can he make the jump to AFL?
