Hey all,

Have just uploaded a highlights reel for some of Andrew McLeod's best moments in finals throughout his career at Adelaide. Thought I'd share the 10 minute video here for you all to enjoy.

Feel free to move it if there's a better suited thread for this!

If only we still had a McLeod.

Gee his handball doesn't get enough recognition. Serious vision that handball.

Perhaps because of how ridiculous the rest of his skills were.

McLeod, one of the greatest finals players of all time. He was my first favourite player.

How we f’ed up that 2006 prelim at home I'll never know

I've still never seen that match. I was in the US when it happened on a shitty computer without a sound card, so I couldn't even listen to a radio feed. I literally followed the match by watching the old AFL live match website where they would have a picture of the oval with a little icon of a football that would move over the field as stats were recorded saying who had done what. I watched in vain as we coughed up what seemed to be a match-winning lead, and swore I'd never watch the actual match.

Good collection, but his 2nd game match winner vs Hawthorn is a notable absence. Disregard I can't read

Thanks mate. Loved it.

Something tells me it wouldn't be Tony Liberatore's all time favourite compilation though

I was doing the same in 2012 in a hostel in Spain. I lost my nut at the G Johncock -> Goal sequence only to see 20 seconds later a Hawks goal. I've never watched the match either.

Was jumping up and down when Stiffy got that goal. Scared the crap out of my 8 month old niece hahahaha

Probably the most balanced player I've seen.

I was living interstate at the time, I was so sad, I went to bed like at 6pm and woke up the next day.

I took it bad, say the least. I was already planning my trip to the G.

Second half of 98 GF when he was severely hampered by the knee highlighted this. Anyone who wants a football lesson on using your hands to slice up an opposition team should watch that half. His handball (both left and right handed) in traffic to players out in space set up so many goals.

One of his other most underrated assets was his ability to stand up in a tackle while he was doing that too.

That's some football pr0n right there.

Not many players with his speed and agility also have the vision and composure he had. Then there's also the skill on both sides of the body.

Not bad for a temperamental old soul.

Left-handed handball to Johnson at 5:07... You have to be a footy purist to appreciate how good that was.

Was the turning point of that GF too.

Partly our opponent was really good, partly injuries to our forwards before and during the game. Biglands was basically in career best form and went down early.

Then there are the drugs Ben Cousins took at half time that turned him into an endurance running superman vs Van Berlo of all people.

Then there is the bs free kick the umpires pulled out of there arse when we won the clearance at the last centre bounce of the game.

If that game went 1 minute longer we would have won.

Just rotten luck. Hentschel knee just before finals, Roo with "Parvovirus".

That game was insane. West Coast played better but kicked poorly in front of goal keeping us in the game. The free kick in the final seconds was correct but stupid at the same time. Edwards accidentaly grabbed Stenglein illegally (around the neck) but for sure they would not call it all the time. I think the worst call was at halftime when Burton was not awarded a free for a hold. Early in the game Biglands was hit in the leg by Van Berlo as the desperate players were diving for the ball and was in extreme pain as his knee buckled big time, was a freak injury and he needed 3 knee recos as the knee just kept failing. He never played again. 2007 was just a disastrous season, the team was flat and underperformed that year. 2008 and 2009 were okay but nothing special as compared to 2005 and 2006. They were the best Crows sides ever and were hit by terrible luck. I think they would have had a good chance at winning it if they made the GF in one of those seasons and the team may have possibly been in better shape in recent years if that happened.

There was another moments later (not in the video) where he got an unbelievable crumb off the front of the pack and gave it to Vardy with another left handed handball. Basically won the Norm Smith on one leg.

These are two common myths among Crows fans.

Those sides had top-end talent, but did not bat deep as a result of years of bad recruiting just preceding that era. The players who carried the team in 05 and 06 were the same players who took us to premiership glory seven or eight years earlier. Look at the bottom six or eight players in those teams. There are players that would struggle to get a game in the current team. It was only from 2007 onwards that we started to get our recruiting act together, just as the last of the premiership heroes were on their way out.

We had some misfortune but a lot of it was self-inflicted by a coach who just didn’t have what it takes. He was the most infuriating individual to ever set foot in the doors of the AFC, and that is saying something.

2009 was such a tease. Imagine if Tippett, Dangerfield, Walker were 5 years older.

Imagine if VB, Knights, Otten, Vince, Mackay and Porps all lived up to the promise they showed that year. We'd have won the whole thing in 2012.

Good times. Should treasure players of this calibre more than we realise, even though we did. Rare as the old hens teeth as they say.

Sandy Roberts - "What a champion"
Uh huh.
