Charles got his firearms licence removed along with his guns due to Andrews mental health. They are not going to let him take his own life.
Andrew has been dumped by the rest of the royal family and he's going to have to go to court and face the music. If he is convicted then he can deal with the consequences of his actions.
If he is held accountable it might restore some respect for the royal family. The royals will find themselves on the outer if the old way of covering up scandals and bad behaviour continue.
William has no time for Andrew either so there is no way he will be welcomed back into the fold when Charles passes.

I think it suits the royals having Andrew in the spotlight because because they can look good by comparison and by taking a stand against him, and it makes people less inclined to talk about them modern day relevance of a family whose head still claims to be chosen by god.
