Totally agree with you,he has the ability to rip a game apart!

And from the stuff ive been reading he's saying and from seeing him on the weekend he has a point to prove..he knows how good he can be(i think he could easily win a brownlow),and i think in his mind by now he thinks he would be a bit further ahead in terms of what he has achieved, and i think he wants to prove it to everyone!

Between him and Gibbs they will be our best 2 next year!!
WHOA!!! easily win a brownlow what are they giving them away as prizes in a raffle? I don't think so......Insane comment

If he gets 15 or 20 odd disposals and kicks 2 or 3 goals and is knackered by 3/4 time then I'll be happy with that.

Remember he has hardly played under Ratts. And hardly played much with half the team. he has a new game style to get used to, needs time with the Blues.

Trust me, we wan't this guy in, he was good last year, probably our best in the second half. With Ratten's game style and the core of good players around him Walker will be a match winner and nearly our most damaging player when he gets up. Trust me on this, sit back and enjoy the ride.

P.S. Keep an eye on Grigg, he'll be next years Marc Murphy. The kids just about to click.

Lower your expectations me thinks.

Walker IS in our best 22 when fit........my point......I won't repeat again.

They tell me there is this bloke called Judd.....

I can see where your coming from though, Gibbs looks almost ready to start to control games and Walker was also almost a game breaker before injuries hit last year.

I prefer to show my discontent.

Did you know that the blue Care Bear's name is Grumpy Bear? :p

I suggest reading over the pages of time and see how many champion players never won a brownlow, It would be nice to just say it and it happens but that ain't how she works. If it did I think Carlton would have 100 Brownlows and 100 flags?

Agree wtih you here Bear. Certainly not in a position where we need to rush players back that aren't fit. But I'll leave his fitness up to the MC to assess. But going back to an earlier post, and assuming he is fit which officials have been suggesting he will be, surely Russell must be a chance to make way? This is not another Russell bashing. But the reality is we might finally be at the stage where we have selection issues, and lets assess, what has he actual done since the last quarter of the Port game?

Yep. Finally someone actually reading the content.

Agree that if he is being groomed for a forward flank type/mid rotation role then Russ would be in the gun.

Could play a defensive forward on the McLeod types, and hurt teams going back the other way.
Will push for more of an increased midfield role next year, but guys with better disposal might push him out.

Nice yossy..........:D

i dont know if im the first person to say this, but i hope to god that the blues arent bringing him back to soon..

Where have you been? Have you watched any games this year?
Yep watched then all and more than once, for someone who started out with a fairly unsuitable body and a small tank this is improving in all areas better than I could hope for, Next year him and Browne are going to tear it up.

we're at a position now where we have the beginnings of depth, and we dont need to rush back players before they are ready or deserve it. Our team has been doing fine without him the past few weeks. It's not like we need him desperately. I think let him work his way back in, no point dropping someone who's worked hard during his absence and put him especially, if by going from the accounts of teh VFL, he doesn't look ready skill wise. Fitness is one thing, but if he's going to spray kicks everywhere let him work his way up to being ready for AFL.

I'm fairly sure he is fit and fit enough to be in the 22. My only concerne is that his skills won't be totally honed in, especially kicking, this guy is a gun and will only need the 2 VFL games to knock off the rust, I'm sure his cardio and legs have plenty in them.

if?

Think as a fellow poster said earlier the game might be in Tassie. If thats the case i might try and get along to the game and give a bit of a wrap up of how Walks and a few of the lads go. If anyone can confirm a time and day for me i'll see if its in my area and have a crack at getting there, will of course be dependent on what festivities occur out and about in the great nightlife that is Hobart:p:thumbsu:

WTF? What happened to Utah?

Mormons aren't the biggest party animals i'm afraid thy, was a hard decision but one that had to be made. Hobart is cold i know but has nothing on Utah i can tell you;)

Understood. But you brought your Osmond Family record collection home with you, didn't you?

Completely agree with the big bad blue bear here. Only when fully fit should we play him. But from what i recall, he's fitness is tip top. Ratts mentioned in the bombers post-game that walks was 2nd, only behind juddy in a time trial recently. So i think he will have a big week this week and be back for the saints.

A lot of people talking about a hf/mid role for walks. But as many have mentioned in other threads, i think we could use his pace across half-back and rotate through the middle, for this year anyway. He could provide the run and carry off half back that we need. I would be happy to play him wherever, but he had a strong defensive side to his game last year, (until crawford showed him up anyway) and his speed is nearly unrivaled at the club. Might be better suited across HBF but with stints in the middle, as i would rather others delivering to Fev in front of 1AW.

An option? Or should i lay off the grass?

Sorry, I was talking quite generally when referring to "fit". I know he has been doing loads of Cardio.

By fit I really mean match fit, which in my mind is not just running.....its running, tackling, kicking, mentally switching on, and really encompasses all the things you can't simulte on the training track.

If his skills are down, he should stay down to hone them. If he is tiring late in games, maybe he should stay out until his fitness (match fitness) improves......but if his skills are up maybe we take a punt.

Hopefully he has a really good game this week (improved skills and running, tackling etc for 4 Q's) and makes the decision a lot easier.
No doubt when at his best he is in our best 22.:thumbsu:

I can can't believe there is even a debate on this. People are being overscientific

There are at least 4-5 hacks in our current side - I will not name them because I get too much stick on this board; especially for one player.
Walker should clearly be ahead of them; can play any of their positions and we have a 4 man interchange bench FFS these days that can accomodate guys that are not 100% match fit
