it will be interesting to see a AW develops next year. being a no.2 pick he has certainly had the spotlight on him and this year wasn't a great year for even though he did do a couple of decent tagging roles on pretty good players.

with us having the no.1 and no.4 picks in this years darft some of the attention can be taken away from AW because unfortunately he has been labelled our great white hope because we hadn't a decent pick since our draft penalties.

with the spotlight off him a bit more than it has been in the last 2 seasons i can see him exploding next year and i can't wait.

for me with his pace and endurance he is genuine midfielder.

what do others think?

with compo leaving this will hopefully see him get more game time
another pre-season is going to help him

IMO- he won't be taking the league by storm, but he will be more consistent and have a bigger impact at the Carlton FC.
he is still only 19

i'd like to see him be given a change settle in one role.
i wouldn't mind seeing him play HBF for a year to continue his development

he will become one of our key midfielders in years to come

With 1, 4 and 20 on their way to CFC, AW will most certainly have some sort of mentoring role and will hence mature as a footballer. It would be great to see the kid with more confidence.

Exactly his only 19, despite having two years in the system the body still hasn't matured, this year it will. Theres not that many flash 19 y/o running around at the moment......and we all remember Luke Hodge...!

Walker just tries so hard, you have to love him. Watching him this year it was pretty obvious to see that he was lacking a lot of confidence. Hopefully over the preseason he can transform himself into a tank. He has the kind of body that will be able to fill out, just like Kouta. Stick him on a HBF permanently next year and lets reap the results of it.

It takes a lot longer than 2 years to become a 'superstar'.

everyone gets so impatient these days because of Riewoldt and Judd, but we've got to understand these guys are the exception, not the rule.

If in three to four years he hasn't improved, then we can start sticking the knives in.

He'll get better this year... but he won't be becoming a top line player, yet.

Will be a lot more effective if he has Murphy, Selwood and Hurn helping him out onball and teammates who give him the ball when he's open.We don't have that problem now.
It's ridiculous to label him the next Judd or Kouta on the back of one great game.

Freudian slip? :)

Be patient with Walks, I don't expect too much of him just yet. He should improve this year though, and develop into a very good player in the near future.

must improve his kicking ASAP.... rarely got the ball this year yet too many turnovers...very frustrating sitting in the stands seeing that...as i said before, will be a very good player...unfortunately not a gun...
