that was his best game

Most memorable, perhaps.

But he had some BOG 30+ possession, half a dozen R50 matches a few years ago. Often featuring searing runs through the middle.

They were his best IMHO, even better than his 2011 matches up forward...

probably right. he's had a good career. just feel as though he could of been better and was inconsistent. having said that 200 games is a great achievement

An unfortunate case of a player with ability being let down by a succession of coaches and his body.

Should've been a wingman when we played him HBF and, even more alarmingly, as a 'tall' back.

He's almost the poster boy for our 21st century insistence on turning attack minded players into defensive half backs, thus relieving our opponents of any exposure to flair.

I wonder if we'll see him beyond 2016.

Had all the attributes to be like Judd, but due to injuries and playing for a basketcase he never quite got there. Still has played some amazing and exciting footy. That mark was great but my fave Walker memory is that winning goal against St Kilda, also lets not forget that other goal vs St Kilda where he ran from half back and nailed it from 50.

I'm not sure he'll play on next year. If rumours about his injuries are true then I imagine recovery after games would be taking their toll. He has been improving since his return because he's a great athlete who is only 30 years old so I would like him to stay on.

Congrats on the 200 in any case, a great achievement!

Congratulations Andrew "Skywalker" Walker on an excellent career, which was somewhat down played
because of your versatility dictating that you "fill holes". Pretty much my fav over the last decade.

Hope the milestone rejuvenates you rather than signalling a premature end.

Hoping the debut of the young buck does'nt overshadow your day.

If he can stay injury free for the rest of the year, by the end of the year he will be playing some decent footy
I'd like to revisit your views then.
Just think if we can get another 1/2 a season out of him next year, we could ease Jack or Charlie into the seniors and it may be better for there development.
Then by the start of the 2018 season, they are ready to take his spot in the forward line
I also like the idea of him being around to provide some on field leadership in the forward line, his good training habits and to help develope our young talent
Much as I would love for him to play on next year, I don't think that he would be doing himself any favours by playing on an extra year. There is nothing worse than a former great playing on one year to many... see Pav and Goodes as prime examples.

Think it's a bit unfair to judge Walks on how he has looked on field this year. By years end if he still can't get on the park consistently and his form isn't great, then by all means he should pull the plug.
But if he can get his body right then having him play 10-12 game next year in the 1's and a few games in the 2's, could be a reasonable option.
Walker is 30 not 34, half a season more to help us develope our other young tall forwards could be a good move.

He probably hasn't had a full preseason for 3-4 years and I'd love him to have a bob murphy-esque (minus the knee of course) final few years off half forward. He's one of our fittest players and if the body is right to go he should go for 2-3 more years.

AW is a warrior ruined by injuries but still got to 200 well done.

Bombay, Kalina, India

The medical rumours floating about are that 1AW's knees are pretty much bone on bone now.

Going to have to see what happens now!

Great Career, gave it his all for the Blues and created so many spectacular moments.
Will miss him in 2017, but fully understand his reasons and wish him every success in the next stages of his career.

Played 201 games. Should have played 200 and slipped Fish out there for his 100 just to even things up.

He has been a fantastic servant to the club for 13 years. I don't hold it against him that he wanted to move in 2010 so he could play more in the forward line... but I'm happy that he ended up staying.
