Has the press conference been confirmed for this morning?

By an AFL reporter. Haven't seen anything else. You would think they get an invitation though.

Really feeling as sad about this as I have about any player that I can remember retiring. Was a ray of light in some dark times.

Played footy like he relished it and was good at the things that make our game so great: dashing runs, big leaps, twisting out of tight spots. And I have always loved players that love to fly for hangers.

Goling to miss you champ.

Well done a good career walks. Probably didn't quite live up to expectations over the whole of his career. Did really well to get over those shoulder issues to forge a solid career. Thought he should have been used more often as a forward. Look at his goal stats and one year stands out, not sure why they moved him back again, wasted.

Terrific athlete who led by example on the track by all reports. Very solid career but didn't reach the heights I thought he could have. Well done all the same.

Highlight real is up there with the best. Those marks and those runs. Still cant believe he didn't win mark of the year - give it to an aboriginal ex convict because its a great story. You never see the winners mark anymore but walkers is shown every couple of weeks I reckon.

Shoulder injuries and knee problems at the end of his career have probably robbed him of close to another 100 games I reckon.

Missed 2 seasons, IIRC, with his shoulder problems, then came back and broke his collar bone. The groan that went up from the crowd when he got back on his feet holding his arm was deafening.

But he will be remembered for what he has achieved rather than what he missed out on.

Top bloke and a champion of the club!

Sad to see Walks go. As others have mentioned was a ray of hope during some pretty dark times for the football club.

Loved his run off half back and his marks up forward. Undoubtedly the game was more enjoyable to watch with him playing.

All best in your retirement 1AW.

A stalwart and great servant of the footy club. I'm glad he is leaving the club on positive/good terms, he has a young family and i think he is involved with a band along with his brother.

First indigenous player to play 200 games for our footy club, a pretty significant achievement (and hopefully he'll have some company there in the not too distant future)

You'll be missed Skywalker.

Andrew was always in one of the three best through the pre-seasons.

I recall watching him 5 years ago and wondering to myself: "I don't think anyone in this league that can stop him"
That was the year he kicked 50+ goals playing forward and seemed relatively injury free.....I say relatively because there weren't too many times Andrew wasn't carrying something.
3 years ago, stem cell surgery was an option for Andrew. That's just how bad his knee/s were.

Glad Andrew has given things away for his own good, but even happier to have had some many terrific memories from you, Mr. Walker. :thumbsu:
