Andy Maher - Sorry but I don't get it

Andy Maher seems like a good bloke and makes a lot of good points plus is funny.

As usual, lots of jealous keyboard warriors on here!

Ah dude you've got Dwayne and Andy on a pedestal it seems.

Crime against 'ewemanity' as Andy would say.

Sentence: only listening to Andy and Dwayne...on loop continuously for a week.

Came across this thread while googling who the hell this guy actually is, can't stand his cool-dad vibe on the friday front bar. Makes a terrible show even worse.
Yep I occasionally see friday front bar after the footy but never watch more than 2-3 mins as Maher makes me want to hurl my remote through my TV.

The only cool-dad with designer glasses and sleeve tattoos that stop about 10cms over the wrist so they can be hidden by the rolled up sleeves of a business short I respect is Tim Watson

Yeah having his own show is just bad, can't listen to sen during the day now.

This is how Maher will ask whether other teams with look to recruit mature players like Hawthorn did ?

" I think the question that we all want answered and would like to know the answer to, and this is not just me asking and wondering this, but all the listeners out there I'm sure would also be very interested to know about this and that's that's after what we've seen with the Hawks winning the premiership in 2013 and the going to win back to back with victory over the Swans in what was just such a dominant performance that I think it really shocked not just the footy world but the sporting community in this neck of the woods and then to follow that with 3 in a row which hasn't been done since the great lions side of 2001 to 2003 which contained greats such as Micheal Voss and Aker the question is whether or not coaches and of course recruitment managers will look to follow the blueprint that Clarko and the boys down at Waverley have used to put together this incredible team that's just has strength all over the field from the backline to he forward line and whether we will see other sides prepared to trade away early picks in favour of ready made more mature players the like of Josh Gibson ?
The funniest

Pondered today whether Jake Weitering will make all-australian.
Followed up seconds later with 'would people still take NicNat over Jake Watts'

Anyone else noticed on Friday Front Bar that Maher always has to drink his beer quicker than everyone else? He constantly checks their glasses and if he is slightly behind, he takes a big enough sip to put him back "in front." My Dad reckons this is a sure sign of an insecure bloke.

i truly believe his long winded questions are there to disguise a lack of knowledge about the topic. it is not reserved to footy either.

he does it in a few different ways

1) sucking up - starts questioning a guest/cohost who has played the sport. cuts himself off with "you know what it's like", or "you've played the game at the highest level"

2) to show guest he has done some research - bringing up obscure facts midway through asking a question

I encourage you all to tune into RSN 927 breakfast show to listen to concise, articulate questions from the hosts.

"Gee peternorth it's just such a... such a ... pleasure to have you on here with us and I think I speak for all of us when I say we have watched you over many many years post in the Andy Maher I just don't get it thread and though to ourselves that we just love the way you are able to describe and add flavour and balance to this thread, I think we can all say that we have really grown up watching you post here and have often sat there and thought how does he comes up with it? Have you ever stopped to think how you do it? Or is it more just a natural thing that comes to you and you go for it? I'm just amazed at how beautifully you do it and at such a consistent level of both not only I guess quality but also quantity as well. Where do you think that comes from? Something your parents taught you or just something you you have developed over time? I just really enjoy it, whats your thoughts though more importantly?"

HA. I heard his last question to the Miami Marlins guy today. It was about Ali, so the "question" morphed into a mini eulogy/biography.
Ok, it wasn't that long, but it wasn't short, and it was an example of how he goes off track. :p

.
This one sounds like a direct quote from Robbo. :D He's a shocka like that: "YOU were tough. YOU knew how to take punishment. YOU knew how to stand up when it counted!". He says stuff like that to Dermott almost every week.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the waffling is an indication of insecurity or overconfidence (or job justification: "I'm here to contribute, so I'd better REALLY contribute"), coz the behaviour can be similar.
As you suggest, someone like Maher might s**t on and on because he feels the need to prove himself, but then there are people like
Dermy who s**t on and on because they're confident that what they're saying is so awesome and interesting. :p
