That is just awful news. My initial reaction was "how quickly can he get back?!" but in reality, we need to give him as much time as he needs.

Cold comfort, but at least this has happened in early December instead of early February like normal. If it is a full 12 month recovery at least he won't miss next preseason as well like normally happens for us.

Otten's contract extension is all done and dusted, right? So he won't have that concern hanging over him. Hope you recover soon Otto :thumbsu:

We're a considerably poorer side for his absence.

He's a gun, and he's young, Crows will follow the 12 month rule, write this season off, and get him ready for pre-season next year.

Really is a massive blow - I expected to see him in the middle a bit more this year, but also allowing us to throw him back when required (considering how damn good he was at it in his first year).

I know he doesn't play the same role, but for some reason, this makes me happier we've retained Burton.

Hentschel/Stevens back, Walker into their position? Or Davis/SMAck slot straight in for Andy?

Just thought I'd pop in and say that this news serioulsy sucks for your club! Otten is/was set for big things, so I hope it's not as bad as reported on here. All the best to him and the club.
 
This sucks. He was a player I really enjoyed watching last year. I followed him a lot and he has the potential to be a 200+ game gun for your club. Let's hope it's some freak injury that won't keep him out for long.

Prismall's was about 9 months, did it September 08, came back in June 09.

FWIW I had a 6 month one, but that was about 15 years ago. Techniques have changed a fair bit since then.

Bad news for you guys though.

I think the way Craigy has the team structured each and every player is replaceable (probably only Bock to be honest)

One in one out keep the same structure in place.

I thought Davis/McKernan here is your chance of a lifetime.

Im ultra pissed about this. Hope hes alright. Lets wait for the scans before really losing it. I can feel this is bad though. :mad:

Most of us had Andy O pencilled for a move up the ground anway. Does these mean more of a midfield oppurtunity for someone like cooke? As much as i value the service of Burton, Stevens and Hentschel, only two could ever be present in our side at anyone time if we are to follow the themes that (IMO) would benefit us most. For me...Mckernan and Walker are non-negotiables for our best 22
 
im a port fan who obviously has a great passion against your club - however Otten is one of the crows players who i rate the highest, sorry to hear this news - real shame for the kid

Perhaps a new girlfriend then?

I suppose this injury will mean one of our rookie-listed players will have the oppurtunity to be upgraded to our list during the season. I'd sit down and try to figure out who it would be but I don't feel like thinking about footy at the moment :( Maybe I'll try to actually get some work done.

not that its anyones business it would be interesting though who dumped who?!

If its him then she would argue karma, if it was her then he would argue his life has hit the skids.......

I don't think anyone would really come out and say "karma" to someone after they have done an ACL.

No Stabby I didnt mean that, I thought maybe in relationship situation if it was a bitter break up the other party being dumped may think that.

Im just sad and shattered for him

I think its full effect is not being felt as its off-season.

Burton's recovery should be used as benchmark for healing and playing AFL football again.
