**** the footy gods really don't want us to make it three flags do they?!

For **** sake when are we going to have some luck?

All the best to Andy anyway .. but ****.

Bad luck for the lad, however he is young will attack his recovery and come back "ready to go" in 2011

those who keep on this "why us" path please stop injuries happen to all clubs, lets move on

memo to Davis, Talia and Shaw

Lads train the house down as I can smell an opportunity

As far as the team goes, yes we'll survive, albeit weaker than we would have been.

But for Otten himself, this is terrible, and for us fans who love Otten it's awful news too.

My response was for those who seem to be hoarding cans for the impending fall of civilisation.

Nice kid, hard luck, but it's not the end of our season or his career. The role he played is not an exceptionally difficult one, which he held onto despite his less than impressive kicking skills, and we have plenty of other options to fill the void - Davis, Moran, Sellar, Stevens are all players who can either come in and take the role, or move back there opening space for another forward or ruckman, plus it gives an opportunity to Talia to get 5 or 6 games under his belt this season.

Shattered. Had otten locked in for a defender next year in DT. One of the few crows players i actually like. I guess the silver lining is that it may give a draft pick (like first rounder phil davis) a chance to shine?

Perhaps a defender like Coad to help you fill some defensive gaps?

Very interesting.

Prior to this injury i would have said 'good player but not needed' due to guys like Talia, Shaw and Young amongst others.

But now Coad may be the mature player that gives us cover in the defensive utility role for a season or two.

Just depends on whether he is gone before our pick and whether a junior we rate above him is still available.

Here's the interview with (I never know how to spell his name) Dave Burtonshaw?

Fascinating (and good!) to hear Biglands is still involved with the club. I guess one tiny positive of being such an injury-prone club is that we have plenty of role models around to offer support and advice.

Having Burton on for another season may be worthwhile for the help and inspiration he can provide Otten alone.

Dave Burtonshaw was the guy Rendell was speaking to on the phone earlier on today, and he knew pretty much the ACL was gone.:(

*Burtenshaw ;)

Andy is one of my favourite players. He had such a great season and I was so looking forward to seeing him take the next step in his career next year. I'm shattered for him :( :(

It sucks even more that he did it at this time of year because he'll have to sit out the whole of the season.

Does any other club in the AFL go through as many ACL injuries as we do?

They mention he was part of the midfield group now too. :(

Is there a reason adelaide get so many ACLs? how long is it before it is more than just bad luck. Are the players over trained or something?

I still can't believe that Brodie Martin did his ACL and was able to keep playing the rest of the game when you see most players go down immediately (and not get up at all).

My major query on Adelaide for the premiership is its top-tier midfield depth.

Partly based on performance, partly on potential i had picked our top 6 mids to be:

Thompson, Vince, Dangerfield, Otten, Mackay and Sloane (with veteran and Porps cameos).

Huge Loss:mad:

Structurally we have plenty of players to cover him as a midfielder but class-wise i am not so sure

If you were a betting man what does this do to the Crows odds of winning the GF in 2010?

Myself and two others have a combined $100 on Adelaide to win the GF next season at 9:1. Pushes it out a touch but not a huge amount.

chadle - I doubt it's overtraining. This was only the fourth training session of the season. Just bad luck I'd say.

Terrible news, but the club will move on quickly from this and so should we I guess. Big opportunity now for someone to take the freed up spot and make it their own.

We won't hurt class wise, it's more that the kid(s) who will slide in will be yet to put a full year of AFL football under the belt. We'll have to go through that process all over again.
