Here's a little insight into how Channel Seven operates in regards to fans in their "camera zones".

A few weeks ago at Etihad Stadium we had front row seats, and had the 7 camerman in front of us the whole night.

Now I was pretty subdued this night, because I knew we'd always win, but the only shot they showed of me was when I stood an applauded Trav for a mark in the goal square. (I was the only one in the bay standing lol).

What they did show more of is a bloke in a Collingwood jumper at the end of my row who had tats and was generally making more noise then anyone in the area, without swearing though I add.

So, basically they look for the biggest loudmouth or idiot in their "camera zone" and they focus on him for most of that match.

In regards to the individual at the Geelong match, he needs to be moved back 3-4 rows after his behaviour the other night, it's not representative of 99% of Collingwood supporters and the way we behave.

Put some kids in the front row so they get a great view and also get their heads on TV, that would be my advice to Ed.

I too cannot stand this arse clown one bit but I blame channel 7 for zooming in on him every time there is a dubious decision against the Pies.

Every non Pies supporter would love seeing the stereotype played out on their tv screens. They would all sit there thinking to a person "have a look at this idiot from the Pies Cheer Squad. Typical Pies supporter, they are all feral and can't speak a sentence without dropping several F & C bombs"

Of course, to suggest one uneducated buffoon swearing his cohunas off represents what the masses of Pies supporters are like is plain and simply idiotic. However, we all know that non supporters don't ever want to consider that because it's no fun to ignore the classic Collingwood supporter stereotypes.

Yes that guy is a tool and disgraces himself every time his mug is on tv, but it's not up to the networks to police his behaviour. It's up to his peers and fellow supporters sitting next to him to speak out and shame the guy. Most people wouldn't say anthing to him because it's easier to avoid confrontation. Therefore they must report him to security and complain to the club in an official manner to eradicate this type of unsocial behaviour, especially amongst children.

Collingwood FC needs a better screening process when selecting the cheer squad members.

My Home seat is not far from them and it is full of foul mouthed ferals.

There is a bloke that wears a weird back & white afro wig.....he has something mentally wrong with him but says c**t more than any other word known to man.

Funny thing is that ahead of the 'main' cheer squad people have only been around for a handful of years.

Say something to the bloke....he can't walk...his legs are shot, what's he going to do to you?

Just a loud mouth muppet!

he looks like a dick, which is why they show him.

Perpetuate the stereotype.
Totally agree. I always try not to swear at the football though, people bring their kids, they don't need to be hearing that.

On the other hand some people get precious in the extreme. I was told off by a woman, a Collingwood supporter no less, during the last quarter of the 2010 GF replay... for clapping too loudly.

he is mental. doesn't stop going nuts whether we are 10 goals up or 10 goals down. I don't know how he has the energy

Agreed sat front row v the dogs. All he does is abuse the goal umpire for every decision. Spoke to the cheer squad manager at the club. His respone to me is that guy is passionate. What a joke.

when he finally realises that correct decisions sometimes go against us, it's just going to blow his mind. he won't be able to turn up to the game, you'll find him curled up in a dark corner somewhere questioning his existence.

Why does the AFL do everything in its power to 'clean up' the game itself -- to the point of eradicating all fights, physical contests, rough tackles, minor physical contact, etc. -- and argue that it's to make the game more appealing ... but then they allow Channel 7 to portray the average supporter as some enraged, foul-mouthed psychopath?

Where's the logic? If you're trying to entice crowds to the game, why place special emphasis on those supporters? Their behaviour would have all sorts of potential fans of the sport thinking, "I like the sport itself ... but I'm really not sure I'd want to sit in a crowd alongside these feral scumbags."

I'm surprised we don't have a cheersquad code of conduct ...

Pashion = good

Cheering = good

Dropping 'F' or 'C' bomb = bad

Our players are expected to exercise self discipline for the sake of the team (avoid giving away frees and 50's).

Surely the cheersquad and greater supporter base can do same?

I never get tired of the camera focusing in on Geelong coach when we are winning....:D

He really should be setting an example for the average punter...no?

F this and F that, F'ing all the F'ups Fing brat.........
Cats don't need a coach that swears like that.
I don't wan no coach that swears like that............

Remember when Rodney Eade was coaching the Swans in a Night game at the WACA ground in Perth it was all F This and C this -at qtr time a local Copper - a Senior Sergeant -who just happened to be John Todds ( ex West Coast coach) brother tapped on the glass window -and told him to tone down his language -or otherwise he would put the Cuffs on him and arrest him -Unbeleivable stuff

I was over there on holidays at the time -and it was big news in the local papers

Ah yes, and that one camera shot which will remain forever etched in my memory from Ross Lyon.... Aaaah FFS!

Why are you all making such fun of me? Im just a passionate supporter i am done with this website, to think there are such mean people all picking on me!!!! Go and eff yourselves!

Note: The things said above may or may not be true ;)

I'm far from a wowser, but this guy is a serial pill and an embarassment. Remember watching him get marched out with his two kids in tow about 3-4 years ago after belting his beer off the fence out on the field after a shitty decision went against us. Have also seen him hanging over the fence squawking almost unintelligible abuse at the goal umpire after the central maggot has done something stupid. He's actually not bad in terms of entertainment value but looks seriously imbalanced and a tad munted.
I get the feeling that if he didn't have the footy as an outlet for his built up life frustrations he would be down in the Geelong area beating up tourists.
Footy, at times, really does keep people off the streets
