Before his turn to crime, he walked out on the Crows for no apparant reason, just a spoilt brat! He deserves what he gets.

BTW, I'm just curious, has anyone ever served time in jail whilst playing in the AFL?

Don't believe any players have served time, but there have been quite a few retrieved from a cell (usually intoxicated). Also, a few have been on other charges, but it has never made the press, as their names have been supressed.

Didn't John Nicholls (Big Nick) of Carlton, back in the VFL days, serve a jail sentence for defrauding his employer. I have a vague recollection that he he did and was allowed out of jail each weekend to play for Carlton.

I'm sure some loyal Carltonian could either confirm or disprove that.

I've heard this was the case. Also he missed an interstate carnival series due to his incarceration.

Angwin is doing fine down at the Baggers; we love him.

You were unfortunate to be duped by the system to a degree. The draft is constructed for fairness to the competition, but the competition is national and clubs don't have the safer option of recruiting closer to home. Angwin has his problems. He also wasn't mature enough to move interstate and act professionally. Your club put time and money in, but it wasn't going to change the fact that there is a live-wire element to his character which became a nasty flaw in an unfamiliar environment.

I don't think he intentionally stiffed the Adelaide Football Club, he's probably ashamed of what happened.

And you were stiffed. You missed out on a top 10 draft pick, a player who is tall, mobile and has that freakish quality, (a little like his personality).

But for those of you attacking him personally; he'd smash your face in if you had the guts to say it to his. Hey, I'd love Massie back, (he's a top 10 pick too), but good luck to him at the Crows; it's our loss.

Hope you do well in the finals, and Massie in particular.

It was interesting to hear Reidy's view on Laurence Angwin's recent "developments"

Reidy said he was happy everything became public especially after some people e-mailed, rang up and wrote to the club absolutely pasting everyone as to how they could let him go, number 7 draft pick and all that crap.

I got nothing against people that make mistakes and learn from them but I do have a lot against people that make mistakes and are given a 2nd chance and they keep doing the things that got them in the trouble the first time. Angwin is one of those blokes that is a self centered hypocritical jerk that will continue on being a w***er and hope that he will be given a chance after chance. I do give 2nd chances but I don't give 3rd.

clear difference between Massie and Angwin - Massie is not a thief or a drunk driver. Massie is very welcome at our club - Angwin is not. You can have him. We washed out hands of him - goodluck with getting him on the straight and narrow - I think you will need it!
