Anna Kournikova rallied from a big second-set deficit to defeat Ai Sugiyama 6-4, 7-5 on Saturday and reach the finals of the Shanghai Open.

Kournikova, who has never won a singles title on the WTA Tour, reached her fourth-ever finals and first in two years. She will face top seed Anna Smashnova of Israel on Sunday.

Smashnova breezed by seventh-seeded Angelique Widjaja 6-1, 6-1.

she's made the singles and doubles finals, both against the respective top seeds. funny to read that if she does win such a prestigious event, she takes home the princely sum of US $22,000.

just might see her crack into the top thirty if she wins.

Who cares, she still looks good

Yeah, in her 278th professional tournament, when she wins the final of the Liechtenstein Open in 2008, against a qualifier from Eritrea, that will really prove to the world that she wasn't the biggest loser in women's singles of all time.

I have it on good information that she will actually come second in the Leichenstein Open

gotta pay that :D :D :D

she won the double though. can she count that as half a singles title? or as two singles titles? the fool played the luxembourg open while everyone else was at the sydney olympics, and she still couldn't win.

she might have to wait to athens 04 and enter a little satellite event.

u think she could win in hobart, canberra, or auckland though.

i think i've been on 719 posts for about a month now. anyone know why it doesn't increment?
