He looks fresher. The gameplan stacks up for sections of games. Yes it's slow, but it worked on the weekend until our midfield totally shat the bed. And we broke through to half-forward consistently, at which point we'd inevitably yell 'bombs away' and make life unforgivably easy for a defence that should've been undermanned and worried about us.

He still has it in him to outcoach others imo.

But all the other moving parts that have existed for large swathes of this rebuild still exist. Our assistants, who seem to be enhancing the output of their troops to a whopping degree of 4/5 of **** all, also still exist. Our playing personnel, with all of their irredeemable flaws that apparently cannot be fixed through bi-weekly gatherings in a professional sporting environment, also still exist.

A while back Uncle Leo said we were circa three seasons away from decent consistent footy.

Who knows if its 3 years but I think this is the right approach. No point destroying yourself over something you have little control over. For all the handwringing post Collingwood we have definitely improved. We are rarely a no show in any game now, for the last few years we had multiple games where <10 mins into the game we may as well have gone home. I'm convinced it will turn, in fact is turning, but we have to turn over at least 4-5 core players still to have genuine ongoing organic growth. We need another 4 wins like Hardeman into the 23 over the next 6-12 months.

? We are heading for a 6th year in the bottom two. That's far worse than what they went through.

Depends how you look at things. From 2007-2019 (incl.) was a much longer haul at the bottom of the ladder. They did get a PF in 2018, though. Then, they took another trip to the pits before arising phoenix-like…

I just get nervous. Sounds too good to be true to be able to pick up a young, 198cm, genuine goal-kicking key forward with loads of upside in the MSD. Even if he never makes it, I wouldn't be critical of the selection.

I also don't trust that Brady won't bypass him for a 180cm 73kg HFF that doesn't hit the scoreboard much.

We lack polish as a side.

Not just the average players it’s the midfielders and then it spreads throughout the team.

And if we were on and clean we’d put sides away early and then set ourselves up.

Except we make things so ****ing hard for ourselves, we burn so much energy and kill ourselves just getting into a strong position.

LDU, Wardlaw, Jy need to all become one touch players. Otherwise we’re going nowhere fast.
The one player who was clean was Sheezel and he’s gone backwards.
Even Colby was one touch and lost that early this year.

As for the game plan, the query on us was whether the gameplay would stack up across 4 quarters and it didn’t.

When a games in the balance the Pies are the absolute best at icing the contest and we didn’t even throw a punch in the last.

With them missing Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Bobby Hill, Moore, De Goey, McStay and Schulz - this is a game we should have won.

We’re not clean enough, not fit enough and not smart enough and this has to change fast.

Get rid of the dumb, lazy and overpaid footballers for a start.

But who would be left? Would we have enough players to field a team?

There's no doubt the players were fired up after Aunty Joy (AKA The Stick) gave her passionate speech on Saturday night. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a lump in the old motor boat at the opening bounce. It seemed so real.

I know there's been a lot of talk that we faded after 1/2 time but it goes with the territory. You've got a bunch of kids barely out of nappies. The Suns used to be like that, but now we are rocking & rolling.

The bye has come at a great time. I'm heading to the Isle of Tonga to try to bulk up a little bit. I've been hitting the gym pretty hard here. I can now bench over 100 lbs - 3 sets of 12 reps - that's how you get ripped. Every now & then I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirrors at the gym & I think, "I don't look half bad."

Damien Hardwick is my favourite coach.

Hawks definitely overrated but I think we did a better job of containing Collingwood than they did

Goes to show how important the draw is. If we had a couple of easy kills I reckon we might be looking a lot better now.

Played some decent footy early on against aggressive teams through sheer ball-winning and some level of ball use but got burned out the back once contest work fell apart; put work into the back end to rectify some susceptibility since which has been clearly visible at the expense of scoring

But according to on here, our defence is shit because we prioritised a front half game, now our forward line is ****ed, and the fact that we are showing tangible signs of improvement isn't good enough because we should just be winning.

North should be a case study for developmental psychologists, wider proponents of empirical sciences, and financial traders given we are apparently the sole entity capable of driving linear development to the top right corner
