Your rebuild will surpass ours as early as this year...
Richmond are on their way down, not up. They still have their veterans carrying them. Their rock bottom will be in a couple of years when those players age out and their 19 year Olds still aren't ready to lead.

Correct and heard last night that posters on here suggesting he is happy with the pay check and doesnt give a toss are alarmingly close to the mark. Going to the reserves his attitude has been " still getting paid"..

So looks like we are stuck with Corr being best on for the oppo for now.
Now that’s leadership right there! 🤮

It will be a short lived way down imo.

They have Taranto, Hopper, Balta, Broad, Vlastuin, Miller and Nank to go around for a few more years and lead the youf.

They've had the perfect start to their rebuild with a zillion picks in their 1st draft plus our 1st next year and they are a big club that will still attract free agents even when they are down the bottom.

They have a winning culture.

He apparently has become a bit accustomed to Bulls cooking which may have a bit to do with the out of shape bit.

The fact that the internal expectation is ā€˜competing for longer’ tells you all you need to know.

Embarrassing.
I don’t love that narrative either, but in my view, it says more about the state of the group Clarko inherited than anything else — just dire, void of genuine leadership. It reflects how little mental resilience the playing group had (and still has albeit some small improvement). The level of resilience and cultural change required is immense, and unfortunately for us, it’s going to take time to correct.

Effort and resilience have many forms. We suck at most of them.

We leave 4-5 goal margins unfulfilled in most 1st halves through sheer lack of concentration - inane forward entries where we seem to target the tallest opposition interceptor..

.. Or our trademark "puzzled" defensive setvplay where Corr, McDonald, Daniel, Comben and some lazy mid who didn't track their opponent back with any great intent give each that look as the oppositions saunters in, untackled, unpressured to kick the easiest goal of their careers.

Meanwhile our blokes all look at each other like they just learned that Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.

Then there's the copyright 2nd half fadeout as the team emerge from a competitive half despite our best self saboteur efforts tired from sucking themselves off and watch the opposition bang in a quick 3 or 4 without much resistance to shift the momentum and leave us to play an ever widening game of trying to keep up.

Then you add senior players making rookie errors, much vaunted set shots who are dead eyes when we're 60 pts down but kick like a 1st session Auskicker when the shot actually means something and a whole team who are apparently exhausted from a miraculous month of losing to 2 shit sides, drawing with a great side albeit not taking our chances and beating an U18 team (just) and you it's game, set, match - we have no resilience.

Last week a win was a win. Well this week a loss is a loss.

We lost by 45pts yet some supporters are spinning it like some achievement. It was shit, I wish the team actually feel the burn and show some sort of collective will to break out of this endless cycle of loser mentality.

Pass mark should be 8/9 Wins as a min anything below should be unacceptable for a team 6 years into a rebuild and so many top end kids
Jeepers you must be very bored or have a morbid interest with how depressing it can be to follow a football team to be hanging round this forum.

You’re right about the 8/9 wins, it won’t happen. We are the worst, we will never get better.

But I am starting to just approach it a different way, I love this club I am a nuff so I will always go to the games.

I am trying to look at it from a different angle, instead of being invested in the football last night I found myself doing a quiz in the record, tried a variety of food options at Marvel which were great, got quite drunk which although expensive I found made the dissatisfaction easier.

It’s really all about perspective.

Can we bring Nobles back to make a few of these blokes cry? Then delist those players

We are so bloody soft between the ears and drop our heads the moment things even slightly go against us.

You could tell in the last quarter it was a case of ā€œoh well it was a good effort but.. they’re a number 1 team for a reason, no point tryingā€

How do you come to that conclusion?

The racism saga broke before Clarkson started coaching and he didn't set foot in the club between May and late July 2023. The supreme court stuff happened over the December - April period in the time following. So two compromised pre-seasons and a debut fixture that had the guts ripped out of it.

There's been a lot of talk around the process affecting Clarkson, we'll never know for sure but for me personally we are comfortably past the post for 2023 being a hot mess. Remember all the talk of him quitting and walking away? I'm sure the mood was absolutely dour at times.

Meh. We played the top of the ladder side (albeit weakened) to a draw after 3 quarters and folded. They were coming off an 8 day break; us a 6 day break. Actually was pretty encouraging all told.

What will send me into a tailspin is if we lose to the Eagles and get pumped by Freo at "home" because our club values the moolah over winning games.

So disappointing but hey we're all used to it with this mob. They deliver us disappointment after disappointment.

Having said that we were absolute gassed at half time the result of a very tough last month. As a result they looked like the Harlem globetrotters. Very good team but they looked better than they are.

Yes they were missing players, but honestly sidebottom and pendlebury are on their last legs. Moore Hill and Maynard ill give them.
"professional" footballers shouldn't be gassed at half time. Watch the PNG afl team play 6 x 20 minute games in 36C 90% humidity in Thailand and they are running hard right up to the end of the final game.

We lack polish as a side.

Not just the average players it’s the midfielders and then it spreads throughout the team.

And if we were on and clean we’d put sides away early and then set ourselves up.

Except we make things so ****ing hard for ourselves, we burn so much energy and kill ourselves just getting into a strong position.

LDU, Wardlaw, Jy need to all become one touch players. Otherwise we’re going nowhere fast.
The one player who was clean was Sheezel and he’s gone backwards.
Even Colby was one touch and lost that early this year.

As for the game plan, the query on us was whether the gameplay would stack up across 4 quarters and it didn’t.

When a games in the balance the Pies are the absolute best at icing the contest and we didn’t even throw a punch in the last.

With them missing Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Bobby Hill, Moore, De Goey, McStay and Schulz - this is a game we should have won.

We’re not clean enough, not fit enough and not smart enough and this has to change fast.

Get rid of the dumb, lazy and overpaid footballers for a start.
