Is there anyway to block ads from appearing in Yahoo, AFL and many other sites?
There seems to be a proliferation of them recently. Bloody annoying.

for reasons why advertising alone will never be able to support web sites.

Pop-ups and larger ads are simply ways that sites are struggling to force users to notice advertising but, for each new method that is invented, users will adapt to ignore them after a brief increase in response rates.

Which leads me on to something related: Would you guys be prepared to help fund BigFooty through voluntary contributions of, say, $10 a year? If it is successful it could mean:

- the end of, or reduction of, banners on BigFooty,
- more features and development
- things like live news and scores
- a better chat room system.

Not voluntary Bluey, but compulsory.

It would stop the fruit loops from making 100's of fake identities, of which I'm pretty sure you have already considered

No complaints coming from me. $10 is less then $1 a month, so you can hardly complain it will send you broke. Plus it will get rid of a lot of trouble makers as Asgardian said.

Since the upgrades on BigFooty last year, I haven't been able to access the chatrooms. It might be because I've got a fairly old computer and have Netscape Communicator (although It didnt work when I tried with IE either) but I've heard other people say they cant get into chat. Would it be easier if a chatroom through IRC was trialed? That way those who have IRC can access the room and for those who dont have the software can use a java applet window?

Chances are you will have just as much trouble. Netscape and Java hate each other.

Thats the wierd thing. The 3 various chat places I've been to have all worked fine using Java Applets with my Netscape.
