This is a good rule of thumb.

My favourite Chinese place is a dive of a restaurant with 1970s decor and an organised chaos approach to service. It's in an area with a substantial Chinese population and every single night it's chock a block with Chinese. They absolutely know their shit and the food is amazing.

Said rule doesn't really work for chains though in my experience. People go to KFC etc. because it's cheap (supposedly), has all the good (bad) stuff like fat, salt etc. and is basically the same wherever you go. If I went into a KFC and it was full of fit, healthy people I wouldn't suddenly think that I should eat there more often.

The Chinese restaurant in Winthrop is much like this. Food is great as well.

I've never eaten the potato and gravy from KFC, is it any good? Genuinely looks like prison food.

Used to crave it as a kid becasue my parents never took me there but these days doesnt really get much of a look in. Used to always go the 2 piece feed and hated it when got the drumstick or the wing (or both). Its breast/thigh or the highway.

Dont know what the potato and gravy is but always enjoy it when dipping the chips in. Plus as a kid the little towels you get to wipe your hands with were a little novelty.

This is the best! Wouldn't have it more than 2 or 3 times a year though, mainly because I don't live near one.
