Going when they're busy and having them literally throw together your sandwich at breakneck speed. Just a roll ful of random lumps of ingredients.

The same old tired menu. Every "new" sub they introduce is just the same old thing... with bacon! Steak... with bacon! Chicken... with bacon!

The way they prey on unhealthy people with their marketing - all the media stuff is about healthy eating, healthy living bullshit. Then you walk into the store and it all changes, fatties are bombarded with temptation - have cheese topped bread! Have double meat! Have double cheese! Add bacon! Have an absurd amount of thick creamy sauce! Have a few cookies (ie blocks of sugar)! Have a 5 litre soft drink!

Marketing and then the instore experience is a disgrace - uneducated people think its healthy and they know that and prey on them. At least other fast food joints don't makes these bullshit "healthy, fresh!" claims.

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to their next sub, bacon with bacon! It's bacon-tastic!

When you get a meatball sub (which I don't think requires salad), you say no when they offer it, and say "are you sure? not even lettuce?" like they're making you feel bad about it.

I used to get the meatball sub all the time but stopped because of the guilt trip you'd get for skipping salad. Even the picture on the board doesn't have salad, so why give the third degree?

Have seen a drive thru subway, can't remember where though.

The thing that annoys me isn't the restaurant itself advertising the "fresh" angle, it's with the stupid people going in ordering 2 foot longs covered in sauce and a 600ml coke thinking they're winning at life. The option is their at subway to eat a good tasting healthy meal but most people wont.

As for the variety, it's no worse than any other fast food place.

I hate asking for toasted, only to have them pull it out early and hand me over a luke-warm sub minus any sort of toasting.

Subway is a triumph of marketing. I salute Doctor's Associates Inc. who have conned millions of people into believing they are purveyors of healthy food.

I love my local Subway which is just up at Midvale.
However, it's a little small and cramped.
The other day when I was in there ordering my sub there was a guy ordering lunch for both he and his daughter who was running around. She accidently fell over because she wasn't watching where she was going and had tripped over her own feet and had bumped her head on one of the small tables.
Then when her dad went over to her to check on her she accidently elbowed him in the nuts. So yeah not enough space in the room.

Subway is the most unsatisfying 'fast food' place in the world. I go there every few months, once my memory of my last trip has been wiped clear, and am again disappointed. The place needs a revamp IMO, the menu and everything about Subway is just bland and boring.

Scoresby Subway (cnr Stud Rd and FTG Rd) used to have drive thru. Haven't been there in years, not sure if they still do.

Rarely have it these days, all Subway'd out. Back when they had the token things (2 with every footlong, 20 for a free one or something) - many many years ago - a mate of a mate of mate worked there and used to knock off whole rolls of the and sell them pretty cheap. Basically had free Subway for nearly a year, just kept a pile of full cards in the car. As did everybody in my suburb basically. Haven't been able to eat it with the same regularity since.

Come to think, they disappeared not long after.

This isn't really even funny any more.

This happened to me when I was trying one of the bacon and egg subs for the first time ( which are average btw). The girl asks what salads I wanted and I gave her a WTF look and declined, she then gives me a WTF look and asked 'really?", with a raised brow - like not having salad on a bacon and egg roll was some kind of oddity. I was was quite discombobulated for a good 5 - 10 mins afterwards. Never again.
