If north had Waite available he'd be playing which would probably force Ross to bring back Dawson...Do not want that to happen.

No gimmee this game, North have actually been playing an impressive brand of footy and in the games up to their eyeballs.

Really looking forward to the game.

North are a team I thought would be around the the same mark as us come the end of the season and if we're just off, they'll put us to the sword. Really be impressed if we can win this and assert the home ground advantage again.

The young guys really look like they are enjoying playing for each other, so no changes for mine unless forced..

Tough game coming up, Turner and Simpkin showed something for North up forward on the weekend, and if Spurr and Hughes are off their game, then they'll be chasing tales all day.

Need to make sure we keep winning out of the middle to keep the pressure on their defence and away from their nifty forwards.

Yep, Waite kicked 4 and Brown 3 against us last year when we had Pearce, Johnson and Dawson in defence.

North are better than the 0 - 4 situation they're in. Could and should have won 2 of those games, so we don't want to treat them as anything but very serious opposition.

At our best and at home, yes we are good enough but below our best we won't stay with them all day.

They are good side and they are due.

I'm gunna be dead set rapt if we get up this weekend

Just make sure you wear your lucky underwear then.

But yeah, I don't anticipate we'll win every game with so much youth but we will be better for playing them in the next year or two.

I'm still hoping but not expecting....

Haven't seen any of their games, but I assume they've played with their typical 'boner spirit.

I'd love to see our starting centre bounce with Sandi, Fyfe, Mundy, Neale and rotate in both Hills and Blakely. I think we should be aiming to smash out of the blocks and get a fast start. Even when the bulldogs/Melbourne got on top of us they just couldn't peg back the damage we'd done when we got a run on. Our bursts the last 2 weeks are actually similar to what we did in 2015 for the first few games.

Isn't that just what we've been doing anyway? Agree that it looks awesome.

Neale's been starting on the bench. You don't want all three mids to be extractors. They'll be fighting each other for the ball.

With the height of the north forward line I'm not sure we can afford to have johnson spending time in the ruck without bringing in another tall.
The alternate option is bringing in Tabs to play fwd and relief ruck have johnson play permanent KPD. The question is who is dropped/moved for this, drop ibbo and move croz back? drop grey?
I don't envy match committee this week

I hope we see Logue line up on Ben Brown for a bit, imagine the hair!

Don't we have 5 defenders who can play tall already in our B22 (Hamling, MJ, Logue, Ibbo & Hughes)? Apart from the 3 200cm+ guys (Goldstein, Preuss & Brown - one of those has to be ruck, and they might even drop Preuss and go in more mobile like Daw or someone) the rest are 192cm or under (including Mason Wood if he returns) and Ibbo, Hughes and Sheridan would be fine against them I think. Spurr + Weller for their smalls. We can't match their physical presence up forward, so I wouldn't try, and instead beat them with speed, mobility, support and pressure up field. Our current line-up did well against the Dog's taller forward line so hope we don't panic with selections.

I'm probably worrying too much but the period of the game where we have MJ rucking and Hamling (194cm) Logue (193) vs Brown (199) and Pruess (206)/ Goldy (201) scares me. Definitely can't see either of Ibbo or Hughes lining up on the monsters and giving away 12-20cm

I could be wrong but I vaguely remember Ibbo even doing ok on Mason Cox (211cm) in the past. I think if you have really good delivery inside 50, tall forwards become very hard to stop (eg Lobb @ GWS). But with good upfield pressure a 11-20cm height advantage can be countered with better speed/mobility/reading of the play/double teaming and so on. I think the Hawks, Sydney and now the Dogs have shown you can defend well with a shorter and more mobile back line (ie most players 193cm or under, maybe 1 that is over) and the benefits on the rebound are huge. It's pretty hard for a 200cm+ guy to apply forward pressure - there was a new article on AFL.com relating to Ben Brown just today.

A lot of the decision making about which player lines up on the super-bigs of the opposition is to do with marking ability. As an example, I think Ibbotson would do fine against Taberner despite the size difference because Taberner is not a confident marking player, but I think Ibbotson would struggle on Apeness who would take the grab every time against him.

SHily is strapped but doing full training.

    No sign of Harley Balic.

Bennell, A Pearce, Apeness, Ryan, DeLuca and Duman the others not out there.
Sonny and Darcy doing doing the same modified duties so wouldn't be surprised if he has sore groins too

I'm comfortable with giving Tabs another opportunity. Perhaps he will be more consistent in the new forward group. He should have a opportunity to see if he can be apart of the rebuild moving forward , and if not he'll be gone at the end of the year.

I don't know who should be dropped though - no one really deserves to be dropped based on the last two weeks.
