The player wouldn’t be allowed to play by the AFL or Club at all. Think about the promotion of women’s sport and inclusivity if it is found out a player has been charged with such a serious offence and allowed to continue playing.

The work done by the Club and AFL would immediately mean zero and the brand would be severely damaged.

Yeah, seems possible that he was there with another unidentified player who was the subject of the investigation and that player was never named in the first questioning due to the same suppression implications. That would still likely be a cats player though.

Not even sexual assault -it was indecent assault, a level below. Charge was withdrawn pre-trial with police paying court costs.

Rape is sexual assault. Sexual assault is just the more legal term for it now and can be done with penetration of an object, finger, tongue or penis.

A fight outside a Ski Club is a significantly less charge than a rape allegation.

My money is on KMF, if it is a Geelong player. Just because the other incident happened in Melbourne, doesn't mean something else couldn't have transpired in Geelong - if he has the tendency to treat women in such a way.

All hearsay, but honestly, we have not seen one peep out of the club in relation to him. Even for media bits, or interviews. It's been incredibly odd, when we've seen every other draftee/player - even if they are injured. It's like he doesn't exist. I feel that's by design.

How about we don't speculate and name people in ways that could upset a prosecutor

Stood down and you’re not coming to work. Full pay and professional support provided, but there’s no way you’re gonna be out there representing the company.

Just the way it is. The club is bigger than any individual.

Correct, if I was, say, the President of some Players union for example and that player came from my club, I'd insist they were kept out of the team until charges were proven not innocent..

Very easy to report that the guy has a long-term injury. And then have him mysteriously not be mentioned by anyone at the club until it's resolved.

It's the courts who have blocked the media from naming the person. It could be simply to protect the victim.

If it is to be him, would be disappointed in the club in what would appear to be a severe lack of background checks and character assessment.

It's one thing to draft a guy and he screws up 6 years later. That's pretty hard to forecast, and people can change significantly over a lengthy period of time like that. You can't really blame a company, or in this case a football club in that regard.

To only be somewhere for three months though, and already leave a trail of destruction of sorts suggests that he was like this well before anything AFL related entered the picture.

Again, obviously preface that this is only relevant if it is him though.

Just hate the idea of these scenarios, whether it's a Geelong player or otherwise.

I'm not siding with an alleged rapist. I'm looking at it from a purely legal standpoint which the AFL would be looking at. If the league or club stands the alleged rapist down and they're proven not guilty in court it would open a whole new can of worms

Murdoch's media outlets have used the term "AFL player" as a descriptor for anyone that plays footy in the past. I wouldn't get too hung on up that part of the headline until more information comes out. The person charged might currently be on an AFL list, they might be a former AFL player or they might be a total unknown that plays for a regional team in the Geelong area.
