Are they? That's a joke!!!

For me it's absolutely fantastic, as I can't go to the game due to a prior commitment (stupid friend, fancy putting his 21st on that night!) but at least I'll be able to see the game now!

But I'm not so sure things will improve once the rights go to Nine/10/Foxtel...who's to say that the Adelaide/Blues match wouldn't have been on Foxtel next year?

The AFL, if they did care about the average supporter as much as they claim, should have put a clause in the TV rights deal stating ALL interstate games involving a Victorian club MUST be shown live on free-to-air. Seven did it for nearly every game until a couple of years ago, so it can be done.

And an even more bizarre happening - is that Ch7 arent telecasting either match in Brisbane????

Oh that's right - CH 7 GAVE UP ON BRISBANE WHEN THEY LOST THE RIGHTS - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, and havent shown a Sat night match all year:mad: Unless of course you count replaying any Sat night Lions matches at midday Sunday - which has always amazed me - considering more Qld'ers support clubs other than Brisbane than do support them.

I will certainly be looking forward to Saturday nights screening of Inspector Morse

So much for development of AFL in Qld

Add another one to that

Not that I'm complaing, but thanks to a deal done between the GFC, AFL and 7. It is understood that round 21's Geelong v Brisbane Lions match will be telecast live into Melbourne Sunday afternoon, even though the game is being played at Shell Stadium.

If you read the draw you will notice that Adelaide are playing Hawthorn at the same time at Football Park and Sydney are also at home to St Kilda (not that Saints fans will ant to watch that anyway).

The Hawks look like missing out. Probably a punishment for losing to Fremantle ;) ;) ;)

Its a stoopid decision:mad:

Although due to the same 21st that Goalden Hawk is talking about, I wouldn't be able to watch more than the opening quarter all the same, so I'll just tape it.

But honestly, would you rather see Adelaide v Carlton LIVE (2 finals contenders) or Hawthorn v Melbourne on DELAY?

It shouldn't even be about who's a finals contender and who isn't. This is a shocking decision (even though I'm a Hawks supporter).

IMHO the AFL should ensure that when a Melbourne club plays interstate that game is shown either live or within an hour of starting time back into Melbourne. It is unfair on the supporters of the club when they have virtually no opportunity to see their team play. Melbourne and Hawthorn supporters have the opportunity to go to thier game so it should be the one shown at 10:30.

The only valid reason I can see to disagree with this logic is when there are games in Melbourne that are a sellout.

I was very surprised by the decision. In saying that I am quite happy about it because I can now go away for the weekend and see the match. (And no I am not going to the snow:p )

I agree that this is a stoopid situation but based on Channel 7 and the AFL being involved hardly surprising. Given that the AFL should be encouraging fans to attend games it seems ludicrous that they would televise a game in Melbourne against a game in Adelaide. As far as I can see everyone loses out; Melbourne draw a smaller crowd for a home game, Carlton and Adelaide supporters in Melbourne miss out, etc. The obvious solution would be to move the Melbourne-Hawthorn game to Saturday afternoon and televise the game on delay. I don't think too many people in Melbourne would object. I'm going to the game (haven't missed a Hawks game in Melbourne this year) and would prefer to go on Saturday afternoon.

WHHHHHATTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That had better not be the case!!!! Saturday night's decision is bad enough...but at least Carlton fans will get to see the game delayed. With the Round 21 games, what will happen is:

2PM-5PM Geelong v Brisbane - Kardinia
5PM - 6PM 5 minutes of highlights from the other 2 games, despite them involving Victorian clubs playing interstate, followed by 45 minutes of ads and crap interviews.

This is the 2nd time in 3 years Hawthorn fans have been shafted with games in Adelaide.

All I can say is if what Gocatsgo says is true, expect 30,000 Hawthorn members, not to mention 20,000 St.Kilda members, to be very p!ssed off indeed!

Bloody outrageous!

Are Seven's crap decisions the reason they lost coverage? Or are tehy doing it to get back at people for losing it?

I honestly thought Melbourne viewers had every interstate game live if it involved a Melbourne club.

Seems to be a common Seven screw-up. There have been a few West Coast/Fremantle games from Melbourne that have been delayed. IMO - ALL games that a club plays interstate should be live to their city of origin. If the game is being turned into an armchair spectacle and attendance is discouraged.. at least let people see their team play as it happens.

Wayne Jackson has a lot to answer for as well.. perhaps he enjoys being the most hated man in footy.

Blues Brat

I think it is indeed a case of sour grapes by ch7. This year has been terrible for their coverage of footy.
It appears to me they are showing the least amount of footy they can get away with under their current contract.
In WA 7 are cutting back on footy left rigth & centre.
The Game is no longer shown here, although it was a crap show, it did have some interesting content.
Rex's Footy Panel on Sundays is only shown occasionally & now they are sometimes only showing 1 game on a Sunday.
Thanks seven for taking your displeasure out on your viewers, you will regret this decision next year, as I for one will not watch anything on ch7 and I am not alone in this black ban.

Channel 7 "you go to hell, you go to hell & die".

I recall posting earlier in the year about how annoyed I was that they were showing the Sydney, Essendon game in front of Collingwood and Richmond. What has changed channel 7?
